The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion concluded this week, during which Lisa Rinna and Garcelle Beauvais addressed their conflict surrounding the release of Garcelle’s memoir, ‘Love Me As I Am.’

Rinna admitted to tossing Garcelle’s book in the trash during the reunion series, after clashing with her cast mate throughout Season 12. Fans were led to believe that it was Erika Jayne who ditched the read, but Rinna copped to the diss, explaining that Erika had only uploaded the video to her own Instagram Story.

Rinna confirmed that her action was due to the book’s mention of her daughter, Amelia Gray Hamlin’s eating disorder. Garcelle explained that they took care of the issue with a second edition, which was printed without mention of the model’s body image problems.

Garcelle’s former “The Real” co-host, Loni Love, took to Instagram to point out the reality star’s grace under fire, as the cast hashed out their beef on the reunion stage.

Loni shared her insight alongside video footage of Garcelle tearing up during the tense cast confrontation.

“Whew Chile..Rinna and Erika casually just laughing at throwing Garcelles book in the trash while it pans to her tearing up.. The grace that Garcelle shows is undefeated… a published memoir takes time to develop, construct and print.. more importantly it’s represents her story and it should not be ridiculed. Good vibes to you @garcelle

“When I started along the journey of penning my memoir I had no idea how much of an eye-opening experience it would be,” Garcelle told People, in October 2021. “I am deeply proud to share my journey as a woman, the struggles, and funny memories with those who have followed me throughout my career in Hollywood.”

A memoir by definition is a narrative written from the perspective of the author, with a focus on important and pivotal moments in the writer’s life. The author’s feelings and beliefs are fundamental to the narrative, as the story unfolds.

Celadon Books describes the genre as one that “satisfies two of our most human desires: to be known, and to know others.”

Rinna’s actions could be translated as a disrespectful dismissal of Garcelle’s inspiring success story. Erika’s behavior only cosigned Rinna’s harsh and self-absorbed response.

Garcelle immigrated to the United States from from Haiti at the age of seven, with her mother and six elder siblings. She arrived in America speaking only French and Creole and learned to speak English by watching Sesame Street. She was brought up in Peabody, Massachusetts and later moved to Miami, at the age of sixteen. The future Bravo star got her start in the modeling world at the age of seventeen, and later transitioned to acting. She co-starred opposite Jamie Foxx on popular sitcom, ‘The Jamie Foxx Show,’ for four seasons and starred in Emmy Award winning series, ‘NYPD Blue.’ The accomplished actress’ film credits include ‘Coming to America’ and its sequel, White House Down, and ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming.’

Garcelle won over viewers when she noted her humble beginnings as she excitedly revealed her beach house renovation project. Fans could relate as she nervously wavered before purchasing her first extravagant handbag.

Garcelle’s penned success story was briefly belittled by ego-driven cast drama—but the humble Haitian beauty ended the season with Bravo fans in her corner.
