‘Sister Wives’ Fans Blast Kody Brown for Ditching Daughter Ysabel Amid Split from Christine!

Kody Brown was featured traveling to Texas to officiate a friend’s wedding on Sunday’s episode of Sister Wives, and fans had plenty to say about it. He previously shot down the opportunity to drive to North Carolina to settle his teenage daughter, Ysabel, where she planned to attend college.   

Christine Brown, who was preparing for a move amid her split from Kody, shared that her daughter reacted with upset when she learned that her father had crossed state lines after rejecting the chance to be with her during her scoliosis surgery. 

The teenager reflected on her relationship with her father during Sunday’s episode.

Ysabel, who called the father/daughter relationship “fine,” confirmed that she shared a closer bond with her mother. 

The 19-year-old said in a confessional spot—“I’m gonna miss my mom more than I’m gonna miss him, I think- because I don’t actually think we’re close at all. But I mean, he’s still my dad.”

Kody pointed the finger back at his daughter, telling cameras—“You know, anytime I spend time with Ysabel, I spend most of my time doing a lot of work to draw her out of herself. I don’t know what it is. I don’t think I’m that big an ogre. I don’t know why she’s not talking to me. I’m open to her.”

Some viewers took their opinions to a Sister Wives Reddit thread, where they sounded off about Kody’s behavior. 

One viewer asked—“I might have missed this- but was it ever explained why Kody isn’t helping move Ysabel to college? Clearly, it’s nothing to do with covid (his usual excuse) as he’s just driven to officiate a wedding.”

Another user responded—“He gave excuses such as not being able to be away from the smaller kids for any amount of time. This includes Sol and Ari. It does NOT include Truely who is only a year older than Sol, but whom Kody feels does not need him in her life at all.”

Christine previously shared that their daughter, Truely, 12, barely noticed her father’s absence in her life, amid his steadfast devotion to the children he shares with fourth wife, Robyn Brown. 

Kody justified his trip to Texas by pointing out that he was out of town for only four days. Kody claimed that Ysabel’s surgery required several weeks away, but a quick trip to North Carolina was another story. 

Viewers noticed, and let their opinions fly on Twitter.

One user fumed—“Kody Brown, you are TRASH. You could have gone w/Ysabel for surgery for a few days, then gone back home to your precious “family” at Robyn’s house. You are lower than trash. You are scum. You are smut.” 

Another wrote—“The REAL reason it was OK for Kody to party it up at a friend’s wedding but it wasn’t OK for him to be with Ysabel when she had her surgery:  He WANTED to go to the wedding and did NOT want to be with Ysabel when she had the surgery. That’s it.”

One fan asked—“Ok so moving Ysabel into college would’ve been about 4 days too Kody. What’s your excuse for that?”

Another person tweeted—“Forget Kody not wanting to go to Ysabel’s surgery, which is horrible but WAS during the height of Covid, he just rejected driving her to University and used the excuse of Covid. But now drives to officiate a wedding. Yeah I’d be livid too.”

A viewer said—“Kody claims nobody could be away from work and family 6 weeks to attend Ysabels surgury?  But…Ysabel is your family?  So it’s just not OK to be away from Robyn and her kids that long?  Has he gone longer than 6 weeks not seeing Janelle or Meri or those kids?”

Another pointed out—“No man can be away from his family for 6-8 weeks.” Kody, CHRISTINE AND YSABEL ARE YOUR FAMILY.”
