Austen Kroll’s Drug Addiction Was Out Of Control While Filming ‘Winter House!’

Austen Kroll admitted during a recent interview that he was out of control while filming Winter House because of Ambien!

While talking to Page Six, the Southern Charm star said he thought taking the pill would help him sleep better. Instead, Kroll, 35, revealed that the drug made him sleepwalk and share his secrets with everyone. “I legitimately thought that I was taking a sleeping pill, but apparently if you fight off the sleep on Ambien, you like trip and wander around like ghosts and talk to people,” he explained. Kroll also said he didn’t take the pill knowing it would make him act that way. “I was trying to be good! I was like, ‘Austen, go to bed and this Ambien will help you go to bed.’ And in fact, it did the opposite.”

Austen’s best friend, Craig Conover, also weighed in on his drug intake while filming the Bravo reality show. “Austen thought it’d be good to start taking Ambien before Winter House, and it leads to something absolutely amazing that happens.” Craig, 33, also said that Austen wouldn’t remember his sleepwalking sessions and the secrets he spilled the next day. “I was like, ‘[I went to bed] at 11:30 right?’” Kroll recalled. “And Craig was like, ‘Dude, you were in my room at 2.’ I was like, ’No! That was the opposite of what I wanted to do.” 

Craig and Kroll noted that the airing of Southern Charm season 6 while filming Winter House played a huge role in the drama that went on. Craig said, “We started to pick up on real quick that a lot of the Hamptons people had some serious beef that didn’t even make sense to us, so I think everyone just had their own fights.”

While dishing about season 2 of Winter House, Kroll said he was anxious to see Ciara Miller and work on their friendship. The two had a fling during the start of Winter House’s first season. “For the most part, I think that we did a great job, but that was certainly not easy to spend time in a house with someone that you have history with.”

Since his relationship with Miller, Austen dated Southern Charm newbie, Olivia Flowers, but the pair split up. He told Us Weekly that he would never say never to getting back with Olivia. “She’s such an important person in my life and, like, she was huge for me, you know, this year to kind of get back to, you know, who I think that I am.”
