Teddi posted a photo of her back scar to her Instagram and gave fans an update on her condition. “Despite my anxiety, I listened to the doctors and went in for my 3-month skin check last week since my previous melanoma. They said I had another abnormal spot near my last one so they did a biopsy. I got the call this morning: Stage 2 melanoma.” The podcast host went on to say that she will be going to an oncologist next Tuesday to cut it out and figure out the next steps in her recovery. Teddi added, “Of course, this is all pending some additional testing and biopsies of other spots nearby that were taken today. Moral of this story: if a doctor says, “come in every 3 months” please go in every 3 months.”

The Two T’s In A Pod host also advised her followers to listen to their doctors when they recommend regular checkups. “I so badly wanted to blow this off. “What could happen in 3 months?” I thought. Apparently a lot. I continue to share this journey because I was a 90s teen, putting baby oil and iodine on my skin to tan it. Never wearing sunscreen or getting my moles checked until I was 40 years old.” Teddi went on to say that finding out she has Melanoma was a wake up call for her, “and I hope to all of you, to love and protect the skin you’re in.” In her Instagram Stories she also advised fans to always get their skin checked.

Another follower added, “Thank you so much for sharing this transparency! It so easy to just blow off going to the dermatologist to get out skin checked, but it can save your life! So thankful you are okay and you are taking the right steps to assess the situation.” A third shared their experience with Melanoma saying, “I’ve been there @teddimellencamp. I was 32. Great work getting the word out. You are in great hands. Thinking of you.”
