NeNe Leakes Son Brentt’s Speech Impaired After Suffering Heart Attack & Stroke!
NeNe Leakes took to her Instagram Stories Monday to confirm that her 23-year-old son, Brentt Leakes, suffered a stroke and heart failure earlier this month.
“We wanted to be able to talk about it ourselves when Brentt was in a better place,” the Real Housewives of Atlanta alum revealed, on October 10. “So, here I am, because I would rather the correct thing be out there than something that’s not correct.”
“Two weeks ago today Brentt had congested heart failure and a stroke,” she continued. “He’s only 23 so he’s really young for something like that to happen to him.”
She added that her son, who runs an Atlanta lounge, doesn’t drink alcohol or do drugs. She shared that the doctors were trying to determine what caused the medical emergency. The former Bravo star asked fans and followers to pray for her son.
“Brentt doesn’t drink or do drugs,” she said. “And obviously they’ve tested him for all of those things. They also tested him for HIV. They were thinking that maybe he had caught COVID and he didn’t know that he had COVID.”
She shared that Brentt appeared upbeat during a FaceTime call, earlier in the day.
TMZ reported that Brentt, who previously made appearances on the Bravo reality show, was rushed to the hospital immediately after the medical crisis.
The club owner reportedly spent several days in the hospital but has since been transferred to a rehab facility, where he’s been working to make a complete recovery. Brentt faces a long road ahead, per the TMZ report.
Brentt was last seen on social media on September 10, when he posted a lighthearted video alongside his mother. NeNe did not hint that she was dealing with a personal crisis, until Monday. Her most recent tweet thanked fans for recognizing that she played a “huge part” in the success of the Atlanta “Housewives” franchise.
The compliments came after reports confirmed that NeNe had dropped her discrimination lawsuit against Bravo.
NeNe filed a lawsuit against Bravo, NBC Universal, Andy Cohen, and production companies, True Entertainment and Truly Original in April. She accused the defendants of violating federal employment and anti-discrimination laws. NeNe dismissed the suit in August, due to contractual agreements which require Bravo stars and the network to hash out litigation in arbitration.
An insider told AllAboutTheTea.com that NeNe settled for “around $4.5 million in hush money.”
The insider confirmed that the settlement ended any chance for a future relationship between NeNe and Bravo.
The source said—“You’ll NEVER ever see NeNe appear on ‘Housewives’ or Bravo again. Her Bravo career is essentially over after this lawsuit and settlement.”
