‘RHOP’ RECAP: Mia Says ‘F**k You” to Gizelle for Doubting Her Cancer Scare!
Welcome back to a brand new season of The Real Housewives of Potomac! We begin with a brief look at the upcoming season, and it looks extra spicy! After the flowers bloom, it’s time to start the show. Karen Huger and Gizelle Bryant are preparing for a picnic surrounded by cherry blossoms. Ashley Darby’s also on her way but may be running late due to TikTok (according to Gizelle). Gizelle and Karen soon get on the topic of Ashley’s upcoming divorce and Gizelle admits to not being surprised by their failed marriage. Robyn Dixon arrives, and after greeting the ladies, takes in the beauty of the park. Robyn asks whether anyone has spoken to Ashley and before anyone can answer, Ashley arrives.
Ashley gives love to all the ladies as they begin eating and reminiscing about a recent trip. Karen begins talking about her time with Ray and soon Gizelle begins her shade toward the Grand Dame. Robyn switches the conversation to Mia Thornton and her recent Cancer scare, which she publicly put out on Instagram. Robyn pus it out there that it seems like Mia’s looking for attention and Karen continues giving Mia the benefit of doubt. Gizelle thinks it’s weird and Karen agrees that it’s different but encourages the women to hear Mia out. Karen doesn’t believe in crying wolf and hopes this isn’t a case where Mia had ill intentions.
Gizelle approaches Ashley lightly when inquiring about her upcoming divorce from Michael Darby. Ashley admits there was an incident in Miami between her, Michael, and another woman. She also isn’t drinking anymore and feels she and Michael are no longer sexually compatible. It’s hard for Ashley to explain, but she feels like the two drifted apart over the years. Karen asks Ashley to clarify whether she is separated or divorced, and Ashley admits that she and Michael are looking for a house under their new LLC. Karen, Gizelle, and Robyn get into Ashley as they try to speak some sense into her. Karen wants Ashley to protect herself because men don’t play fair in divorce. Ashley’s giving Michael the benefit of the doubt, but she knows there’s a possibility of Michael turning vengeful. Karen wants to lighten up the mood and invites the ladies to a Spring into Spring party! Karen even busts a tune for us to get the ladies to agree. It was a cute moment.
Later that day, Chris and Candiace Dillard-Bassett are at a doctor’s appointment to freeze her eggs! Candiace feels like the time is now or never and her doctor suggests that she go through multiple cycles for the best result. Candiace is not only trying to have a baby but is still working on her music career. Looks like Candiace has a full schedule on her hands! Due to the strict schedule of IVF, Candiace would like Chris to have a better work schedule to assist her with this new journey. Candiace is ready to get pregnant now, but she also wants to do five million other things, SMH. Chris and Candiace wrap up their appointment and head to get some food. Candiace asks Chris how he feels about the injections and Candiace admits to not trusting that Chris can do it. Candiace then begins getting on Chris about his work schedule and Chris becomes upset.
Chris feels like Candiace should be more flexible and she doesn’t listen. Candiace doesn’t think Chris is consistent with his point of view and soon the two ride in silence. Robyn’s at True Food Kitchen as she meets OG Charrisse Jackson Jordan. Charrisse is in love with Robyn’s new, red hair and after brief pleasantries, Robyn gives us a recap on how the two know each other. Robyn and Charrisse order drinks and Charrisse gives Robyn a rundown of what she’s been up to. Charrisse then wonders when Robyn and Juan Dixon will tie the knot, and of course, Robyn has no answer in sight. Robyn doesn’t have a date or plans and is adamant about figuring it out.
Robyn reveals to Charrisse that she’s considering asking Juan for a prenup. The financial roles are now reversed and Robyn doesn’t want Juan to take it the wrong way. Robyn doesn’t believe in divorce and definitely doesn’t believe in paying half to Juan if something goes wrong. Robyn doesn’t think Juan deserves half of her earnings in the event of a divorce. Robyn spills the tea on Ashley’s divorce and tells Charrisse about Michael’s obsession with threesomes and the upcoming house. Charrisse doesn’t believe Ashley is divorcing Michael for a second and doesn’t think the two are separating anytime soon.
Next, we’re seeing Mia and Gordon in the kitchen as they prep for a get-together with their family. Mia’s excited to live in Potomac now and lives right down the street from Karen. Mia admits that she’s currently renting and spent over sixty-five thousand dollars on additions to the new house. Geesh! Soon, Mia’s mom and family begin crowding her house and Mia admits her relationship with her mom is still a work in progress. As Gordon cooks on the grill, Mia’s mom inquires about Mia’s recent test results. Mia has a few lumps in her body and is in the process of making sure nothing else is happening. Karen and Ray show up to greet the Thorntons and Karen looks amazing! After greetings, Mia compliments Karen on her new breast lift. Mia asks Ray what he thinks and Ray claims to be concerned but we can tell Ray likes what he sees.
Karen greets Mia’s mom and Mia’s mom gets extra brownie points for wearing Karen’s perfume. Karen chats with Mia’s family and bonds with everyone. Mia shows off her monkey sounds and soon everyone begins to eat. Karen and Mia sit off to the side and Karen makes sure Mia’s alright after her recent health scare. Mia admits that her best friend, Jacqueline, encouraged Mia to share her story, but Karen warns Mia of the other ladies’ anticipated wrath. Mia doesn’t care what the other ladies say and is prepared to defend her actions. The next day, Dr. Wendy Osefo is downtown to meet Mr. Peter Thomas, owner of Bar One, and ex-husband of Cynthia Bailey. Wendy and Peter order drinks as Wendy gives us a rundown on her chaotic life.
Wendy lacks the ability to say no to opportunities, and here Wendy is again, starting something new before she’s mastered anything. Wendy thinks Peter is a great businessman and Peter wants to be a part of Wendy’s new restaurant venture. Wendy begins pitching ideas to Peter and Peter promises to put up some money on Wendy’s behalf. Wendy’s taking notes and gets flustered once Peter gives Wendy the numbers to make this restaurant happen. Wendy is concerned because she’s not sure that Eddie will invest in something he’s not sure will make a return. Peter suggests Wendy puts it on Eddie and swindles her way into a new restaurant.
Ashley arrives at her mom’s house with Dean and baby Dylan in tow. Since the news of the divorce, Ashley has gotten closer to her family and appreciates people having her back. Ashley’s family begins questioning her about the new house and her uncle wonders if Michael will be there to support her. Ashley doesn’t know and wonders the same with no certainty. Ashley explains her prenuptial agreement to her family and seems comfortable knowing she’ll receive half of Michael’s assets. Ashley’s uncle wonders if she’s hired a lawyer and seems appalled when Ashley says no. Ashley lets her family know that she and Michael are putting the house in the name of the LLC, and her family is flabbergasted.
Ashley’s uncle isn’t sure if she’s really getting a divorce but continues encouraging Ashley to get a lawyer so that Michael isn’t pulling the strings on her future. Ashley’s frustrated but knows her family is right. Get it together, girl! Later on, Gizelle is home getting some clothes together as we get a new look at the progress of her house renovations. Gizelle’s proud of what she’s done, but it’s clear the project isn’t finished. The twins come down as Gizelle lets them know about Karen’s upcoming event. Karen gave the ladies cute invitations with real tacos and tequila. So cute! Gizelle asks the twins for help picking her outfit, and when all else fails, the three of them call Robyn for help.
Gizelle’s about to be an empty nester and admits that the idea is difficult for her to grasp. Gizelle and Robyn review Karen’s invitation as Gizelle wonders what “Spring chic” is, LOL. That evening, Karen’s party is coming together and the venue is beautiful! Amazing cocktails, beautiful decorations, and food to die for. I know that’s right, Karen! Before Karen could gloat about her success, the weather decided to rain on Karen’s parade. After a few adjustments, the party’s back on as Gizelle makes her appearance.
The crowd begins mingling as we’re introduced to Jacqueline, Mia’s best friend. Karen and Gizelle chat about the venue as Gizelle asks about Rayvin. Karen returns the favor by asking about Gizelle’s girls and how Gizelle will handle being an empty nester. Gizelle changes the subject to Ashley and admits to not believing that Ashley and Michael are divorcing. Karen thinks Ashley’s playing it smart by getting Michael to do a few extra things, but Gizelle’s still confused. Ashley’s running inside to beat the rain and runs right into Karen and Gizelle at their table. Ashley’s showing some skin and as she sits and Karen asks how she’s feeling.
Ashley reveals that she and Michael found a house and have made an official offer. Karen voices her disdain and now Ashley is claiming she’s separated, instead of filing for divorce. Confusion or not, Gizelle knows no separated couple that purchases a new house together. During Gizelle’s rant, she accidentally tells the ladies that Robyn and Juan’s place is only in Robyn’s name! Whew! Gizelle speeds past that new revelation by calling Ashley a liar. Ashley defends herself and continues gaslighting the ladies as she contemplates whether she did the right thing. Ashely admits to, at times, having a “coochie-craving” for Michael, and Gizelle and Karen are more confused than ever. Karen encourages Ashley to get the coins she needs, and before she can elaborate, Ray joins the party.
Candiace and Chris join the crew and everyone’s all smiles as Chris hugs Gizelle. Gizelle compliments Chris’s suit and then checks in with Candiace. Candiace recaps how busy she is. Karen then joins the ladies and starts talking about Ashley’s divorce… again. Candiace claims that she would throw Ashley a divorce party and is elated to get to know Ashley without Michael in the mix. Ashley soon joins the conversation, and we get a glimpse of Askale Davis. Wendy and Eddie arrive fashionably late and greet everyone appropriately. Wendy attempts to say hi to Gizelle but Gizelle is not with it! Gizelle tells Wendy not to touch her and pays her dust as Wendy plays it off.
The girls look on as Gizelle dismisses Wendy and Wendy seems upset that Gizelle won’t give her a chance. Gizelle’s not over last year’s drama; we all know Gizelle likes to hold a grudge. Meanwhile, Gizelle meets Jacqueline, and the ladies seem to hit it off. Mia and Gordon arrive, and everyone seems happy to see her. Gizelle immediately greets Mia and begins her shade fest. Gizelle asks Karen if she spoke to Mia about her social media and Gizelle tells Mia that her post seemed “attention-seeking.” Mia claims that she doesn’t need attention and is interrupted by Robyn’s entrance. Gizelle tries to play the “as your friend” card and tries to throw Karen under the bus by saying that Karen agreed with Gizelle.
Producers show us that Karen said it was “different,” and Mia begins explaining herself. Mia claims she was hurting and explains the emotional state she was in. Mia curses Gizelle out for the audacity and the group is shocked! Mia’s upset that Gizelle thinks so low of her and ends with a “F*** you!” before the dreadful “To Be Continued…” Be sure to come back next week for a brand new episode of The Real Housewives of Potomac!
