‘Sister Wives’ Recap: Meri Brown ‘Hurt’ After Kody Urges She Move To Utah & Leave The Family!

The October 10th episode of Sister Wives features Janelle Brown’s RV drama and Kody Brown’s reservations, Meri Brown’s feelings get hurt after Kody suggests she move to Utah. Then, the family reunites for Ysabel Brown’s graduation party with Kody admitting to living in a “delusional world.”

Janelle & Kody’s RV Drama

The episode starts with Janelle and Kody sorting out logistics of moving her RV onto their family land, Coyote Pass. Janelle’s super excited. She purchased the RV on her own, and wants to get some action going on Coyote Pass, which seems to be a project abandoned by Kody.

“We should’ve never bought the RV because we’re going to be moving it all the time,” Kody says. “I’m struggling because I’m not optimistic about how this is going to come together.”

While organizing their next steps, Kody pauses to asks Janelle, “Let’s talk to each one of your sister wives and get their permission for every little aspect that we’re doing when it comes to the property.”

Janelle’s disappointed and a little suspicious that all of a sudden Kody wants to run everything by the rest of the sister wives. Especially since he previously backed her choice, as she was about to be homeless.

“This is typical Kody. He’s all on board for something and then he goes away for a couple of days and he comes back and he’s like, ‘Oh, my God, we have all these problems,’” Janelle says.

A confused Janelle insists that the other wives are in agreement of her move onto Coyote Pass, “I don’t need their permission. We’ve already agreed,” Janelle explains in a confessional. “I do not have time for this.”

“There’s things that Janelle does frequently that aren’t like a married husband and wife,” Kody says in a talking head confessional. “We do things separate.”

Janelle feels Kody is not acting like her husband in this situation: “He’s no longer advocating. He’s no longer acting as my husband here.”

Meri Disagrees With Janelle

While Robyn appears cool with Janelle’s decision to move onto the land because it would help the whole family pay off the property sooner, bizarrely Meri Brown takes serious issue with the plan.

“What if I don’t want an RV pad in that spot where she decides to put her trailer temporarily?” Meri asks during a talking head confessional.

Kody Wants Meri Gone

Since Meri’s mother’s death, she’s temporarily close the doors to her Utah B&B while mourning the unexpected passing.

Meri’s late mother, Bonnie Ahlstrom, ran the B&B which leaves the future of the inn uncertain, and Meri grappling with how to move forward. Instead of providing a shoulder for Meri to cry on, Kody suggests she move to Utah by herself and live in the Bed & Breakfast. “That was not my intention,” Meri says in a talking head.

Kody’s fourth wife, Robyn Brown, comes to his defense even though the suggestion probably came from her, “while Kody probably didn’t mean this in a bad way, at the same time it could be completely misunderstood to the point where it’s insensitive,” Robyn says. “It was something that just didn’t need to be said.”

Christine Brown comments that Meri has always made it “abundantly clear” that she bought the inn to keep it in her family. “From the very beginning, she’s not been interested in living there permanently,” Janelle chimes in.

Meri is completely saddened by the idea of Kody wanting her to move away from the family because she did not purchase the B&B to “get away” from him and the family. “I was here at the very beginning — I helped start this family. It was me and him. We had plans and he loved me,” she says.

According to Kody, he made the suggestion for Meri to move because they’re not close anymore, “as a family, it doesn’t feel like we interact that much.”

“I’m not even trying to push her away,” he continues. “She’s laying this burden that she has at my feet about what to do with Lizzie’s Heritage Inn now that her mom’s passed and I’m like, here’s a solution for you.”

Ysabel’s Graduation Party

The family gathers at Christine’s house to celebrate Ysabel’s graduation from high school, her birthday and move to North Carolina to attend college.

Kody lifted his strict COVID restrictions for the event and the family enjoyed each other’s company. But the party is bittersweet in wake of Christine’s decision divorce Kody after nearly three decades together and six children.

Ysabel Brown

The family gathering is so blissful that an air of melancholy surrounds Kody, who can’t fathom why Christine would give up such a wonderful life.

“This evening has gone off without a hitch. It’s been wonderful, and I think Ysabel has felt special,” Kody says. “I’m just blue. We will never be there again. If we really go through with this, as Christine is leaving, is she really going to leave? I’m living in a delusional world where [I’m] wishing that Christine wouldn’t leave.”

Kody Brown

The happy gathering has the family in their feels and Robyn echoes Kody’s sentiments.

“We’re in this moment, we’re having a nice time, how is this wrong? How does this not work for everybody?” she asks. “Why isn’t this something worth fighting for? Why isn’t this something worth staying for? I don’t know, I’m just one of those people who hopes, constantly, that maybe something will spark for someone and go, ‘Oh, this is worth figuring out, sticking around,’ [because] I would look at it and think that. It could make Christine feel like, ‘Hey, this is worth staying for.'”

Meri Brown

Meri ponders if Christine leaving is truly the best decision for the family.

“You know, when I look at days like this when we’re all together, and we’re all smiling and setting the crap aside like, why can’t we do that?” she asks. “Why can’t we work on the things that we need to work on between each other? We’re not doing justice to our family … I’m devoted to doing what I need to do. I know that not everybody is.”

Sister Wives

Janelle, however, while enjoying the family time, will not romanticize the family dynamic.

“I personally am not very optimistic that we’ll see very many days like this,” Janelle commented.

Christine Brown

Christine notices how sad Kody looks, she thinks the reality that he failed Ysabel as a dad is finally sinking in and it’s too late to turn back the hands of time.

Kody is not one to hide his emotions,” Christine shares. “He’s more, like, gonna show you how he’s feeling, and I think he’s just super sad. And it’s bittersweet. He loves Ysabel. And he hasn’t spent enough time with her, and I think he’s probably realizing that.”

Sister Wives airs Sundays, at 10 p.m. ET, on TLC.
