Rapper Remy Ma Almost Joined ‘RHONY!’
Remy Ma was being considered for The Real Housewives of New York until producers found out she doesn’t live there anymore.
As per TMZ, producers were already in talks to have Remy, 41, join the Bravo reboot, but they hadn’t done enough research about the star. Eboni K. Williams brought up the rapper’s name to casting, saying she would be a good addition to the show. Production, later on, reached out to Remy Ma and had a great chat about her joining the Bravo network. However, their plans to have the Grammy-nominated rapper join hit a roadblock after they found out she no longer lives in New York and instead moved to New Jersey full time.
The Boston-born rapper was considered for The Real Housewives of New York because she used to have an apartment in midtown Manhattan but doesn’t anymore. Since Remy no longer has ties to New York, she didn’t make the cut to join the reboot. This wouldn’t have been Remy’s first appearance on reality television since she appeared on several seasons of Love & Hip Hop: New York. Remy joined the cast during season 6 with her husband, Papoose. Remy has one child from a previous relationship and three stepchildren with her husband. The couple welcomed their first child together, Reminisce Mackenzie, on December 14, 2018.
Andy Cohen announced in April that Bravo was recasting the ladies after 13 seasons on-air. He said about the new show, “This is the most multicultural, diverse, and energetic and exciting city in America: We are searching for a multicultural group of friends who really best reflect the most exciting city in the country. We’re looking for a group of women who are real friends, and who are of diverse backgrounds, races, and religions.” Bravo is currently interviewing several people for The Real Housewives of New York reboot.
Andy said he is looking to showcase the rainbow that is New York City. “We are quite literally looking for who will be the new Real Housewives of New York! And I think this represents a tremendous opportunity for a rebirth of the show. What we’re looking for is everything that makes a great Housewife: fun, opinionated, successful, aspirational women who represent a side of New York that we want to see more of.”
