Tami Roman Says ‘Basketball Wives’ Producers Called OG Chijindu ‘Ugly!’
Tami Roman is revealing some secrets about her time on Basketball Wives, including some nasty things that were said about her co-stars.
Tami did an interview recently with Ooh Ladies First Panel and spoke about OG Chijindu’s casting on the VH1 show. According to Tami, she says the Basketball Wives producers always talked badly about OG Chijindu behind her back. Roman said that before OG joined the cast, producers began telling everyone that she was ugly and didn’t know how to dress. She said, “No, OG really, legitimately came on that show being herself. Now, let me just tell you guys something else. When they were, um, like, putting OG through the casting process, one of the producers came up to me and said, ‘she’s ugly and doesn’t dress well. Wait ’til you get inside and see what she has on.’”
The Basketball Wives star continued, “This is some bull**** right here. OG’s mad cool and I’m glad we are friends, but I don’t necessarily know that I would have been as concerned with being her friend had they not said that.” Tami also claimed that the producers were trying to make other cast members not like OG, but it didn’t sit well with Tami because they also tried to do the same thing to her. “So it became my mission [to befriend her, and] it helped that she was a really cool *** chick,” Tami noted. Roman called out the VH1 show’s producers for mistreating Chijindu just for ratings.
Tami said she was willing to fight for OG because she believes right is right and wrong is wrong. “And everything they did to OG was wrong. Like, I saw it with my own eyes. It’s not something she’s fabricating. It was wrong how they treated that girl and how they did that girl legitimately, and that’s the honest to God truth. So by the time I left, it was her against the world.” OG Chijindu joined the cast of Basketball Wives during season 7 and was treated as an outcast by other cast members since the beginning of her time on the show.
A few Basketball Wives fans tweeted about the tea Tami spilled on Twitter. One person tweeted, “I don’t know why the show is still on. Production and some of the cast were compliant on bullying and be colorist against OG!”
