Wendy Williams Back In Rehab For Substance Abuse After Walking Around NYC Barefoot!

Wendy Williams is back at a rehab facility to work on her health and get back on track as she prepares for her comeback!

According to Page Six, Wendy Williams has checked into a facility to work on her sobriety after her fans pointed out that she didn’t look well. A source close to the former talk show host said, “It’s gotten worse. She went from wine to straight up Vodka.” They also alleged that Wendy’s health worsened after her show’s production company, Debmar-Mercury, refused to help her get professional help. “They turned their backs on her. They had too much control over someone so vulnerable.” In another interview with Page Six, Wendy’s ex-husband said that the production company didn’t want to do anything that would get the host away from her famous purple chair.

Kevin Hunter, said in July, “Debmar would not support Wendy’s recovery efforts with the family. They would not sign off on anything that would’ve helped her recovery efforts.” Hunter, 50, said the company told Wendy that she would lose her show if she didn’t stop drinking, instead of taking reasonable steps to help her battle her alcoholism. “They sat in a meeting with her whole family, including her now-deceased mom, and would not sign off on the recovery efforts that would’ve helped Wendy also get well and live and be sober.” Wendy sparked concern from her fans after an interview where she revealed she is dating an NYPD officer. 

Williams’ sobriety issues began in early 2019 after she relapsed. The Wendy Williams Show host went on hiatus for two months and moved into a halfway house to help her maintain her sobriety. When she returned to the show in March 2019, she explained what happened to her viewers. “Only Kevin knows about this. Not my parents, nobody. Nobody knew because I look so glamorous out here. After I finish my appointments … I am driven by my 24-hour sober coach back to a home that I live in the tri-state [area] with a bunch of smelly boys who have become my family,” Wendy explained.

A source close to Wendy Williams’s family told Page Six that they are very worried about her. “Things are really off. It’s not the same Wendy… She’s regressed like crazy and her family in Florida is very worried for her.” Williams’ brother, Tommy, spoke about her condition saying, “I’ve been with Wendy since the very beginning and she’s never talked like this, but I don’t think it’s her fault. It’s a precarious situation.”
