‘Sister Wives’ Recap: Christine Brown Blows The Lid OFF Kody’s Polygamy Sham & Confirms Robyn’s His Favorite!

Season 17 of Sister Wives kicked off Sunday night in explosive fashion with a raw and heated argument between, Christine Brown and Kody Brown, as they chronicle the dissolution of their former marriage.

After 25 years of misery in her plural marriage, Christine Brown has decided to dump Kody and walk away from her sister wives — and he’s not taking the news too well.

Kody Loses The Battle

The 30-minute intense argument begins with Kody Brown defending himself and claiming that he’s worked hard to make their marriage work.

“Christine, I have struggled to keep this family healthy for so long at major, major sacrifice for myself,” he says.

Christine entered a plural marriage with Kody in 1994 and became his third wife. They went on to have six children together. In 2014, Kody’s fourth wife, Robyn Brown, joined the family. While he’s currently legally married to Robyn, Kody claims that he considers himself spiritually married to his wives, however, it has always been apparent that his marriage to Robyn is his number one priority.

Christine Stands Her Ground

Christine did not hold back, and made it be known that Robyn was “more important” to Kody than his other wives.

No Intimacy

Christine told Kody that he doesn’t trust her and he agrees.

“That’s true, I don’t trust you,” while pointing his finger in Christine’s face. “Stop pointing the blame at me. You and I have intimacy and love in the relationship.”

Christine disagrees and reminds Kody they “had” intimacy but no longer do.

“I’m sorry, it’s conditional based upon being part of a plural family,” Kody admits.

Kody pushed for a sex-free marriage to save the relationship, but Christine declined and kicked him out of their bedroom.

“The intimate part of our marriage is over. And to be honest, I’m not okay with that. I’m not okay with staying in a marriage where there’s no intimacy. That’s not a real marriage. I’m not interested in a half marriage or a partial marriage or whatever we have,” Christine stated in a flashback of Season 16.

During their argument, Christine stands her ground on having intimacy in the marriage, and how their current arrangement does not work for her.

“A couple times a year doesn’t work for a marriage,” she says.

Kody Deflects

An enraged Kody takes Christine’s honesty as an insult and attack on him, “You say a couple times a year feels like an accusation.”

But Christine stands firm and calmly explains that he’s “not interested in an intimate marriage” with her, despite her doing all she could to please him and make the plural marriage work.

“Even if you said at this point we could have intimacy again, I wouldn’t believe it for a second,” she says.

Kody Blames Christine

Kody fires back by suggesting Christine isn’t dedicated to their plural lifestyle.

“Even if you said you liked plural marriage and would be devoted to it, I wouldn’t believe that for a second,” he says. “Christine, that’s our deal, our deal was plural marriage.”

“In plural marriage when it was really good for both of us and I was secure and I had an important place and I was important to you, then plural marriage was awesome,” Christine explains. “Then I felt displaced and I felt hopeless. Yes, I got jealous for the first time ever.”

Christine’s Jealousy

Kody claims Christine’s jealousy was a problem for 10 years.

Christine reflects on the fight in a follow-up solo interview and calls her ex an “a–hole.”

“To think that my value as a human being is contingent upon how you feel I’m treating other people and you don’t find me attractive, I think you’re looking for excuses,” she says.

Robyn’s Kody’s Favorite

Christine confirms what all viewers already knew, Robyn Brown is Kody’s favorite wife. And when Robyn entered the picture, Kody’s focus drastically shifted to Robyn, and he expected his other wives to bow down to wife number four.

“I think he has a favorite wife and that’s why all of this is like it is and apparently I’m not treating her well enough. So there’s nothing I can do. I mean honestly, what he’s asking from me is ridiculous.”

The ex-couple shares six children, Aspyn, 27, Mykelti, 26, Paedon, 23, Gwendlyn, 20, Ysabel, 19, and Truely, 12.

Christine recently spoke out about her new “happier” life since walking away from her polygamous marriage.

“I get to live life for me,” Christine told PEOPLE. “My whole world has changed, and every single cell in my body is happier.”
