Pedro Jimeno’s boss and rumored mistress, Laura Romina Delgado, is a convicted scammer who served time behind bars.

Delgado heads up the real estate office where Pedro has been building a career highlighted on the currently airing season of The Family Chantel. Pedro’s after-hours involvement with his co-workers was a point of contention between Pedro and his wife, Chantel Everett, before Pedro filed for divorce.

Delgado was sentenced to four years in prison for a $3.6 million tax return scam. This scheme involved mostly Hispanic residents, according to an October 2014 report by the Gwinnett Daily Post.

Delgado claimed to be an active supporter of the Hispanic community, on the TLC series.

“Honest, hard-working taxpayers who file their tax returns and pay their fair share of taxes should be assured that those who try to profit by filing false returns will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates stated in a news release.

The Lawrenceville Georgia resident’s business, Servicios Hispanos, offered various financial and legal services, mostly to Hispanics. Delgado filed approximately 1300 federal tax returns between January 2013 to May 2014.

Many of the fraudulent returns were linked to people not documented to work in the United States. Delgado assisted individuals in obtaining Individual Tax Identification Numbers from the IRS, in expediting the fraud. She also submitted “false and misleading” W-2 forms with the returns.

“The sole objective of Ms. Delgado’s scheme was to unjustly enrich herself at the expense of the (Internal Revenue Service),” stated Veronica F. Hyman-Pillot, special agent in charge of the IRS criminal investigation division. “We will continue to pursue individuals like Delgado, who abuse positions of trust to commit crimes and ruin the lives of innocent citizens by misusing their identities.”

Delgado was sentenced to four years and three months in prison, and to three years of supervised release. She was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $2,148,440. The former Keller Williams agent was convicted on July 7, 2014, after pleading guilty to a criminal indictment charging her with wire fraud.

Pedro landed in hot water with Chantel earlier this season, after she learned of a flirty office game he was enjoying with married coworker, Delgado’s niece, Antonella Barrenechea. However, a professional group photo snapped at Delgado’s real estate office appeared to point to an extremely friendly relationship between Pedro and his boss.

Another posted photo revealed that Pedro recently vacationed in Peru with Delgado, following his breakup from Chantel. Antonella and her family were also on the trip.
