Kyle Richards and Husband Slammed By ‘RHOBH’ Fans Over How They Treated Sister Kathy Hilton in Aspen Home!
Kyle Richards confirmed that her sister and co-star, Kathy Hilton, had never visited her Aspen home during Wednesday night’s episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Kyle was asked to explain why her sister had never seen her Colorado vacation home and fans shared their own opinions on the matter, as the episode unfolded.
“I mean, I’ve only had this house for three years. This is the first time I invited her,” Kyle told the cameras.
She added with a laugh— “I mean, it’s not like it’s a big house. She can afford a hotel.”
Kyle explained earlier in the episode that because of the size of the 2400 square foot house, she and husband, Mauricio Umansky, seldom had houseguests.
“I actually love the fact that this house is not big, because we don’t love having a ton of guests,” she shared. “So we can always say, ‘We’re so sorry we don’t have the space, but there’s a great hotel right up the street.’”
Kyle and Mauricio have since sold the house and have upgraded to a larger home. In June, the house hit the market with a $9.75 million price tag.
Viewers watched Kyle and Mauricio’s interactions with Kathy during the episode and had plenty to say about it on social media. Fans took to Twitter to put the couple on blast over how they treated the fan-favorite.
The show featured Kathy making multiple requests during Kyle and Mauricio’s dinner prep. Kyle slapped her sis with a “high maintenance” label in a confessional spot, sparking blowback from annoyed fans.
One fan tweeted—“Mauricio & Kyle acting like Kathy‘s questions are high maintenance boggles my mind… she’s a guest doesn’t know where anything is… so asking for napkins & utensils isn’t a big deal…”
Another agreed—“Why is Mauricio at a girls trip? And why is Kyle acting like Kathy is a problem for wanting a napkin? Is she supposed to wipe her pants after she sets down the corn? Kyle really wants a problem with her family when she speaks behind their backs like that in confessionals.”
A viewer tweeted—“Kyle and Mauricio were very rude to Kathy. Who treats guests in their home like this? Telling Kathy to go outside and grill her own corn if she wants it grilled, rolling their eyes, making snide comments because Kathy asked for tableware and a condiment, etc?”
Another noted—“Kathy that wore slippers in an airport is high maintenance for asking for a napkin? No Kyle you are and so materialistic it’s nauseating.”
A third ranted—“Kyle re: Kathy “she’s very high maintenance”. Me to the TV: ‘SHE JUST WANTS BUTTER B*TCH!’”
Lots of Twitter users took issue with Kyle putting her own sister in a room with bunk beds, while others were given more luxurious bedrooms.
One fan wrote—“I really think Kyle was being shady by assigning KATHY HILTON A room with bunk beds. But it backfired because Kathy is humble and sweet and that’s why we love her!”
Another quipped—“I’m still not over Kyle giving her billionaire sister Kathy Hilton the bunk bed room in Aspen.”
A viewer pointed out—“Why did Kyle give Rinna and Erika better rooms than her own sister? Why did Kyle say in confessional Kathy should go to a hotel? She rented an entire house with a chef. I can’t believe the treatment of Kathy by family.”
Another person tweeted—“Kyle pulled a mean stepsister, banished Kathy into a basement bunk bed and Mauricio who grilled half a cow, couldn’t toss a corn on the grill for her? Whatever Rinna/Erika’s attempted Kathy takedown was, Mauricio/Kyle were in on it. If Kathy dragged Kyle, she deserved it.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Aspen adventure continues Wednesday at 8 pm, ET, on Bravo.
