Melody Holt Hints at Legal Victory Amid Custody War with Martell Holt!
Martell and Melody Holt have been embroiled in a custody battle, and many fans believe that Melody scored a legal victory after the Love & Marriage: Huntsville exes appeared in court on Tuesday.
Melody filed for divorce in May 2020. The divorce was finalized a year later with an agreement in place to dissolve all joint interest businesses. Melody and Martell were granted joint legal and physical custody of their four minor children, with an agreement in place to work together to determine a weekly schedule. They also agreed to share expenses related to the upbringing of their kids.
Martell and Melody faced co-parenting challenges after moving on from the scandalous affair that ended their marriage. Melody previously cut off filming scenes with Martell, who shares a child with his longtime former mistress, effectively shutting down communication with her ex.
Martell has since moved on with Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Shereé Whitfield.
Melody revealed that a custody war was underway earlier this month, during an interview with The Shade Room.
“It’s interesting… we’ve been doing a week on week off since when I first left in 2020. Sometimes two weeks on and three weeks off, whatever. We’ve been doing an exchange for a long time. So, it’s very interesting, I will say. We already have joint custody. [He’s looking for full custody],” she explained.
Neither Melody nor Martell offered an update after their court appearances, but fans and followers have been keeping close tabs on their social media posts. Some fans believe that Melody’s recent posts hinted at a victory in court.
Melody posted laughing emojis to her Facebook Story after her time in the courtroom. She also posted a relaxed selfie, perhaps hinting at a positive legal outcome.
Martell was hit with backlash from angry fans after launching the custody fight. Viewers were outraged that the entrepreneur would sue for full custody after originally agreeing to a joint arrangement. He’s also been accused of exhibiting homophobic attitudes on the show, prompting fans to create a petition demanding that OWN cut him loose. Martell has defended his actions to his followers and even claimed that they would support the custody move within the context of the whole story.
News of the custody battle broke only weeks after the former couple enjoyed a family vacation in Destin, Florida. The family getaway whipped up social media chatter about a potential reconciliation. In June, Melody addressed such rumors, shutting down the idea that she was back together with her ex.
“I love y’all so much and yes this is my JAM! Love is so beautiful…a lot of y’all are asking, so, NO, my ex and I are NOT back together, dating NADA, okay? I’m good over here,” Melody commented on an Instagram post.
Melody later hinted that things with Martell had taken a turn for the worse.
“I, at one point, actually had tried to open up a little bit and allow him in my space just a little, but you’re going to have to watch the show to see how all of that turns out,” she told The Shade Room.
