Meet New ‘Real Housewives of New York’ Star Joining The Cast!
The revamped Real Housewives of New York has already begun casting and one of the ladies set to be joining the franchise is Lizzy Savetsky.
As per Page Six, fashion influencer, Lizzy Savetsky, will be joining the new cast of Bravo’s Real Housewives of New York. Lizzy, who is originally from FortWorth, Texas, is married to surgeon, Dr. Ira Savetsky and they share three children together. The influencer has over 200,000 followers on Instagram and often posts about Judaism and her love of fashion. Lizzy explained how she uses her platform in an interview with D Magazine. “I feel a lot of responsibility as somebody out there, putting my life out there, to be honest, and to also delve a little bit deeper. And, you know, I use fashion as a way to get people’s attention,” Lizzy said.
Lizzy has also openly talked about her battle with alcohol addiction — similar to a few housewives on the franchise. Last month, Savetsky told Aish that her last drink was on July 31, 2021. Lizzy told the outlet that she realized she had hit rock bottom after she blacked out while hosting friends for Shabbat. “That’s when I was willing to hand everything over to God and give this battle my all,” she said. “The outside world wasn’t going to tell me to stop. It had to come from within.”
Lizzy joins the cast after Andy Cohen and the network announced they were firing the OG cast members after recording low ratings. An insider said, “Bravo found people aren’t responding as well to the constant bickering and fighting of the previous cast. They’re hoping that this new cast will be a bit more inspiring and attract the younger audience.” They also added that the new cast already has strong and established brands in the influencer space. “They’re women who have their own brands, or at least strong Instagram followings.”
Other rumors suggest Vera Wang executive, Priya Shukla, might have a role in The Real Housewives of New York, but she has yet to sign up for a full-time role. Fans reacted to the possible casting of Lizzy Savetsky on Twitter with mixed feelings. “Casting random influencer girls clearly doesn’t work… look at Dubai. We need a group of girls who are actually friends. That’s always the best dynamic and show,” one fan noted. Another fan said, “How are a cast of all young 30 year olds going to fit in the real housewives franchise these girls haven’t lived life yet. I don’t want this at all.”
