Todd Chrisley Explains Being A ‘Slave’ To Money Drove Him To Commit Fraud!
Todd Chrisley is coming clean about what pushed him to commit fraud.
The Chrisley Knows Best star spoke during a recent episode of his podcast, Chrisley Confessions. During the show, he admitted it was his love for money and material possessions that led him down this destructive path. Todd also said that he let the little fame from his reality show get to his head, “I got lost when I couldn’t differentiate in my self-worth and my net worth. And the bigger my net worth became, the less I focused on my self-worth because everything was being built around that net worth. Around stuff.”
Todd Chrisley also admitted that he only began buying cars and other expensive things because he wanted to keep up with others. “You become a slave to the things that you thought were going to bring you peace. So I got lost in that and for my whole life because I think I was too ignorant — and when I use the word ignorant [I mean] I [didn’t] know that I understood how to differentiate self-worth and net worth.” Since he was found guilty, Todd has said that reading the bible and spending more time with his wife has been the only way he has managed to cope with his ongoing legal drama.
Todd explained that he and Julie’s marriage has been tested since they were found guilty. “I said, in my perspective, it has drawn me closer to my wife. I feel like my marriage for me personally, internally, is the strongest that I’ve ever felt that it’s ever been — that’s for me, that’s how I feel. I feel like I understand you from a different level [more] than I ever have before and I feel like that you have opened up more since all of this than you have the entire time that we’ve been in our marriage.”
Julie added on her end, “I think for both of us, this situation, our season of life right now, has shown us that it’s not just about [what] our plan is, but it’s what’s God’s plan is. And for a long time, I think it was always our plan not God’s plan.” The couple was found guilty in June of committing bank and tax fraud. Prosecutors accused the couple of submitting fake documents to banks when applying for loans. They also accused Julie of allegedly submitting false credit reports and bank statements when trying to rent a house in California. Todd and Julie share daughter, Savannah, 24, and sons Chase, 26, and Grayson, 16.
