A press release explains that the reality star is accused of manipulating elderly victims by selling their names as leads to be used in a massive telemarketing scheme. Shah previously denied taking part in any such illegal operation.

Jennifer Shah was a key participant in a nationwide scheme that targeted elderly, vulnerable victims. These victims were sold false promises of financial security but instead Shah and her co-conspirators defrauded them out of their savings and left them with nothing to show for it. The Office is committed to rooting out the schemes whatever form they take,” Damian Williams, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, stated in the press notice.

Shah reportedly targeted “hundreds of victims,” many over the age of 55,  for nearly a decade.

Shah, among other things, sold leads to other Participants for use by their telemarketing sales floors with the knowledge that the individuals they had identified as ‘leads’ would be defrauded by other Participants, including by lying to Victims about how much they would earn after purchasing the business services and the purported success of others who had purchased services. SHAH received as profit a share of the fraudulent revenue per the terms of their agreement with those Participants,” the press release read.

The Bravo star purportedly attempted to cover her tracks by “[incorporating] her business entities using third parties’ names.”

The release states—“As part of her guilty plea, [Jen] agreed to forfeit $6.5 million and to pay restitution up to $9.5 million.”

RHOSLC fans have been pushing Bravo to kick filming for Season 4 off early, in order to capture the ongoing legal drama surrounding the fallen reality star. Shah’s recent courtroom appearance is expected to be featured during  Season 3, which wrapped filming earlier this year.

Fans sounded off in a comment section alongside a post by Instagram account, “Housewives of SLC,” encouraging producers to keep the cameras rolling.

One fan asked—“Hi, [Bravo], can y’all start filming [RHOSLC] season four while season three is airing so we can cover the whole Jen Shah of it all?”

Another user wrote—“Jen Shah is set to be sentenced on November 28th, 2022, which most likely will be halfway through [RHOSLC] season [three] airing. I wonder if they’re gonna start filming season [four] soon.”

One fan pointed out—“The fact [RHOSLC] can still shoot a [fourth] season between now and November… kinda iconic.”

Shah was arrested in March 2021 in Salt Lake City on an indictment out of Manhattan federal court. She was set to go to trial in July before she changed her plea to guilty to count one, conspiracy to commit wire fraud in connection with telemarketing. The US Attorney agreed to drop count two, conspiracy to commit money laundering, as part of the deal.

Shah’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 28. She is facing a potential 14 years in prison and not only faces the potential confiscation of her own assets and income but the income of her husband, Sharrief Shah. Sharrief Shah, who makes a reported annual income of $450k, works as a special teams coordinator and cornerbacks coach at the University of Utah.
