Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson’s Older Black Boyfriend’s Criminal History Of Dating UNDERAGE Girls!
Dralin Carswell, the older boyfriend of Mama June: Road to Redemption star, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, has a troubling history of hooking up with underage girls, according to a report by The Sun.
Alana, 17, and Dralin, 21, went Facebook official with their courtship in March 2021, when Alana was 16 and Dralin was 20. The youngest daughter of Mama June Shannon publicly confirmed the relationship when she posted a couple photo on Instagram, months later. The famous teen was hit by online criticism for dating an older man and soon deleted the post.
Alana and Dralin reside in Georgia, where the legal age for sexual consent is 16 years old.
Dralin was arrested on May 29, 2019, on initial charges of statutory rape, according to court documents and police reports.
The mother of the alleged victim transported her daughter to the police department to report the incident, which reportedly occurred before Dralin and Alana began their relationship. The police report stated that the mother alleged that Dralin had climbed in through a window and had sex with her 15-year-old daughter. Dralin was 18-years-old, at the time.
The officer clarified that he questioned the high school sophomore about the encounter.
“‘I asked the daughter if it was consensual, and she stated, ‘Yes’,” the police report read.
The teenager told the officer that “her plan with Carswell was for him to come to the house and while there they had consensual unprotected sex in her bedroom.”
Dralin reportedly denied any inappropriate contact with the minor. He told authorities that the underage girl “was his girlfriend and they had talked about him coming to her house… but he did not actually go to the house.”
He told police that he was at his friend’s house the entire day and night, but two of his identified friends claimed in police interviews that they had dropped him off at the minor girl’s home and picked him up over an hour later.
The friends allegedly claimed that when they picked Dralin up he was “scared and told them to drive fast” because the girl’s “mama had caught him inside the house.”
Dralin was initially charged with statutory rape. A charge of making a false statement to police was dismissed after he completed a pretrial diversion program.
During the pretrial diversion hearing, which occurred in June 2021, Dralin agreed to the terms of the program in order to have the charge dropped. The assistant district attorney clarified during the hearing that Dralin “was charged with statutory rape, misdemeanor grade,” however, “based on the evidence we didn’t feel like we could prove the statutory rape but could prove making a false statement.”
“This is the first time Mr. Carswell has been in trouble. He is here today before the court representing himself. So the recommendation was a pretrial diversion in that situation,” the ADA explained. “I’ve spoken to the mother of the 15-year-old and she’s in agreement with the recommendation which is Mr. Carswell successfully complete this pretrial status and then his case will be dismissed.”
“The conditions are $100 administrative cost. He’s to consume no alcohol, controlled substances or intoxicants not prescribed by a physician. He’s to complete a certified addiction evaluation and complete any recommendations. Submit to drug and alcohol screens at his expense. Perform 20 hours of community service. He’s to have no contact with [the minor] and he’s to attend and complete the moral recognition class program through JAG probation.”
The case was dismissed in December 2021, after Dralin successfully fulfilled all the requirements.
Alana’s family is on board with the relationship. Her sister and legal guardian, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird, told The Sun last month — “Me and my husband love Dralin. He’s very respectful and treats Alana with the utmost respect. He is around us and our kids a bunch also and we love him for Alana.”
