Jim Edmonds Rips Meghan King for Spotlighting 4-Year-Old Son’s Potty Training Struggle!

Jim Edmonds is slamming his ex, Meghan King, for spotlighting their son’s potty training challenges. The former MLB player’s rep spoke to TMZ on Thursday, ripping the Real Housewives of Orange County alum for allegedly using their 4-year-old son, Hart, to gain attention on social media.

Jim wishes Meghan would respect their children’s privacy and stop putting their son and his challenges in the spotlight,” the rep said.

Jim and Meghan share three children, Aspen, 5, and twin boys, Hart and Hayes.

Jim’s response came two days after Meghan took to Instagram to ask followers for advice on how to help her son through potty training  “detours and roadblocks,” amid his “journey” with cerebral palsy.

“Hart has been on a journey with his Cerebral Palsy from day one of his life. It’s not a progressive disorder (meaning it won’t get worse) but as he comes of age to acquire new skills, like potty training, is when we run into new detours and roadblocks,” Meghan captioned an Instagram video, on Tuesday.

She continued—“Hart is afraid of the toilet (I think) and I’ve tried every motivator on the planet. The clock is ticking as school requires him to be potty trained and it starts in a month!”

“Any words of wisdom from others who have children with sensory issues, etc is much much appreciated (and NECESSARY at this point)!” she added.“Take it away, warrior therapy parents, and tell me how it’s done.”

Meghan revealed in the video that she had been attempting to potty train her son for a year. She connected the child’s struggles to “sensory issues,” stemming from his cerebral palsy diagnosis.

The former Bravo star said—“As with many neurodivergent children, occupational tasks can be difficult (like eating, putting clothes on, tying shoes, driving, waiting in line, etc.).”

Jim disputed Meghan’s comments in a response to TMZ. He claimed that Hart does not have cerebral palsy, but a different medical condition called periventricular leukomalacia or PVL. The brain condition is characterized by softening of the white brain tissue near the ventricles.

Meghan first opened up about Hart’s diagnosis in July 2019. She updated fans the following year, revealing that her son had been diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

“I knew it was CP since Hart was a few months old. I just knew,” the former reality star wrote in her blog, in October 2020. “Hart’s brain isn’t paralyzed, but there are some areas of damage. CP quite simply manifests as a motor disorder. That’s it. Yep.”

Jim claimed that he was “unaware” of any such diagnosis, at the time.

“If it is even true, it is completely unconscionable and absolutely disgraceful that Meghan would announce this on social media without discussing it with him first,” the former baseball pro’s rep told Us Weekly.

Meghan fired back, telling the outlet—“Jim’s statements are untrue, and I refuse to address them further.”
