Meredith Marks Has Egg On Her Face For Defending Jen Shah 24 Hrs Before The ‘RHOSLC’ Star Pleaded Guilty!
Meredith Marks went all-in on her support for her Real Housewives of Salt Lake City co-star, Jen Shah, ahead of the Bravo star’s Monday guilty plea on fraud charges.
Meredith’s attitude seemingly revealed an extreme friendship turnaround from the dynamic portrayed on the most recent season of the Bravo show.
Meredith and Heather Gay both traveled with their cast mate to New York City, less than two weeks before her scheduled fraud trial. Fans were likely surprised to see the trio hanging out together, and many followed along as the reality stars shared updates on Instagram.
Heather, 40, posted a shot of the three women in a dark restaurant, in one IG Story.
“My Coven,” Heather captioned the share.
Heather posted other selfies of the Bravo trio while out and about in the city, including pics snapped during a morning walk on the High Line. A fan captured video footage during their outing, which also revealed cameramen filming the reality stars. It’s unclear if the pros were filming for RHOSLC.
Heather shared another photo that revealed Jen rocking $700 Gucci sandals and a matching $2800 Gucci handbag.
Heather’s post came after Jen appeared in Manhattan federal court last week, wearing what appeared to be a $2500 red velvet Gucci handbag. The 48-year-old reality star went to court for her final pretrial hearing sporting a checked black suit and a second designer bag, a Louis Vuitton accessory worth around $3600, according to the New York Post. The outlet filmed Jen leaving the courtroom alongside her husband, Sharrieff Shah.
Meredith, 50, posted a message of support on her Instagram Story, seemingly defending her reinvented bestie relationship with her co-star.
Instagram account, @atasteofreality shared a screenshot of Meredith’s message, which read—“I live in the United States of America. In the U.S., one has a right to a trial and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.”
Jen was arrested in March 2021 in Salt Lake City on an indictment out of Manhattan federal court. She was set to go to trial next week before she changed her plea to guilty to count one, conspiracy to commit wire fraud in connection with telemarketing. The US Attorney agreed to drop count two, conspiracy to commit money laundering, as part of the deal.
The indictment alleged that Jen Shah and former business partner, Stuart Smith, were involved in a “Business Opportunity Scheme,” which involved marketing services that would supposedly boost performances and profits of their alleged victims’ companies. Some businesses mentioned in court documents included “tax preparations or website design services.”
Jen now faces up to 14 years in prison under the deal with prosecutors, as well as up to $9.5 million in fines and restitution.
Jen initially faced 50 years in prison.
“I’m fighting this. I am innocent,” Jen said, during the “RHOSLC” reunion, which aired in March.
“I will fight because No. 1, I’m innocent and No. 2, I’m going to f–king represent every other person out there that can’t fight and hasn’t been able to,” she added.
Jen’s sentencing is scheduled for November.
