Kim Richards’ Tell-All Book Blocked Over Lawsuit!
Kim Richards’ Tell-All book has possibly been shelved due to her legal issues with her ghostwriter.
According to Heavy, Kim Richards’ memoir might not see the light of day after her legal battle with writer, Kingsley Baker. The writer claimed Richards did not pay her half of the $300,000 advance they agreed on after she finished working on her book. Baker had taken The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star to court in 2019 and the case was later settled. Per court documents, the ghostwriter agreed to settle for half of what she said she was owed.
The lawsuit was settled in September 2019, after Richards paid her ghostwriter $10,000. Since then, there has been no word on when the Tell-All book, ‘The Whole Truth: The Reality of It All,’ will be released. As of now, the Amazon page advertising the book currently has no release date and there is only a placeholder cover in its place. There is also no section to pre-order the book. Kim Richards hasn’t said anything about when the book will be released either.
Kingsley Baker has worked with other celebrities like Jenna Dewan, Nicky Hilton, and Julianne Hough, before on projects similar to Kim Richards’ Tell-All book. On her professional website, it states that Baker is a screenwriter and novelist who has had over a decade of experience working with entertainment legends. “Allie Kingsley also creates and executive produces a variety of on-screen projects including feature and television treatments and television pilot scripts,” the website states.
A source close to Dey Street Books, a division of HarperCollins, confirmed to The Daily Mail that the book was canceled. They said, “They killed it. And they’re letting Kim keep the $300,000 book advance. They didn’t think they would be able to recoup the money so they’re taking it as a loss. This book was cursed from the beginning, with a lawsuit and delay after delay. No one should be surprised it was finally given the ax.”
In 2020, Richards’ sister also told People, “I didn’t really know about the book. I mean, she started saying she was working on, you know, something and I didn’t really – I don’t really know a lot about it.” The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star had spoken about her book to HarperCollins saying, “I’ve come to learn that holding onto secrets is like holding your breath. Finally, I feel strong enough to speak my truth. I am unafraid and unapologetic. I am ready.”
