‘RHOSLC’ Fraudster Jen Shah Rocks $2K Gucci Handbag To Court!

Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star, Jen Shah, appeared in Manhattan federal court Tuesday, rocking what looked to be a $2500 red velvet Gucci handbag. The Bravo star attended her final pretrial hearing before facing charges of fraud and money laundering. Jen has been awaiting her day in court, after pleading not guilty. The Bravo star faces up to 50 years in prison.

The 48-year-old reality star went to court sporting a checked black suit and a second designer bag, a Louis Vuitton accessory worth around $3600, according to the New York Post. The outlet filmed Jen leaving the courtroom alongside her husband, Sharrieff Shah.

Jen Shah was accused of operating a telemarketing scam for nearly a decade. In March 2021, the mother of two was charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering. Jen has maintained her innocence throughout the legal ordeal. Jen’s assistant and business partner, Stuart Smith, initially pleaded not guilty but reversed course in late November, pleading guilty to charges linked to the alleged scheme. Smith will testify against Jen, according to prosecutors.

Judge Sidney Stein scheduled the trial for July 18, with a start time of 9:30 am. The trial is expected to last about five weeks.

The indictment alleged that Jen Shah and Smith were involved in a “Business Opportunity Scheme,” which involved marketing services that would supposedly boost performances and profits of their alleged victims’ companies. Some businesses mentioned in court documents included “tax preparations or website design services.”

Last month, Jen was accused of “withholding evidence” only weeks before her scheduled trial date. Prosecutors asked a judge to force the Bravo star to hand over the evidence ahead of the trial, according to documents obtained by The Sun. They stated in a letter that they had asked Jen’s legal team to compel their client to hand over the evidence three times before they were told, “At this time, we have nothing to provide the government.”

Prosecutors alleged that Jen claimed that she planned “to put on a two-week case-in-chief at trial, strongly suggesting that the defendant possesses documents or evidence that she intends to offer at trial” during a May 13, 2022 status conference.

The government claimed that she had not produced the promised evidence, in their letter to the judge.

The letter stated—“Although the Government first requested reciprocal discovery more than a year ago and trial is less than six weeks away, the defendant has produced no reciprocal discovery materials in response to the Government’s request and has failed to respond substantively to the Government’s most recent request for such materials.”

“Accordingly, the Court should require the defendant to produce all documents and evidence subject to disclosure under Rule 16(b), including, but not limited to, substantive, non-impeachment evidence, on or before June 18, 2022.”

Jen’s lawyers fired back, stating that they had “nothing further to provide.”

The docs alleged that the Bravo star “provided the Government with an expert witness disclosure and two supplemental disclosures.”

“Again, as we have told the Government, we will promptly provide any items which Ms. Shah intends to use in her case-in-chief at trial which are within Ms. Shah’s possession, custody, or control.”
