Ceaser Emanuel is blaming a scorned ex for leaking a video that revealed the Black Ink Crew star allegedly abusing his dog.

The artist accused an ex-girlfriend of leaking the video as an act of revenge after their breakup. Ceaser previously stated that because the footage was captured by his own personal Ring security camera, he believed that he had been set up. The woman has yet to be identified, but many believe that Ceaser’s ex, Suzette Samuel, is the alleged culprit.

Ceaser implied during an appearance on the “OnThaRadar” podcast that the incident happened years ago, and that the footage had been “dangled” over his head.

“They always dangled it over my head,” Ceaser said. “You know how it felt having that dangled over your head? Like yo, you bugging. And it’s for years. And finally, after I say I’m single, the next day that drops.”

The network announced its decision to fire Ceaser the day after the two-minute video went viral on social media. He had been part of the VH1 show for nearly a decade. The network added that Ceaser’s departure won’t affect the upcoming season, which is in the final stages of production.

Producers were reportedly “appalled” by the footage, according to a source.

Ceaser’s rep confirmed to TMZ last week that his client had been questioned by Fulton County Animal Services and local police. The New York-based tattoo artist claimed that his “crazy” behavior was actually an attempt to break up a fight between his dogs. Ceaser’s rep said that police found that his animals were “safe, healthy and show no signs of abuse.”

“Although his actions were not appropriate at all, [Ceasar] is sincerely apologetic and feels extremely bad. He is dealing with death threats which is causing him fear and depression,” the spokesperson told the outlet.

He added—“His only goal was to build an empire to help build jobs and bring the Black community in the tattoo industry successful given that the community is limited there.”

Ceaser’s lawyer, Walter Mosley, told PEOPLE that the video was “almost a year old or older” and that his client was stopping aggressive dogs from attacking smaller dogs. He admitted that Ceaser likely had a “lapse of judgment.”

Ceaser spoke to TMZ about the incident, telling the outlet that his behavior was a “moment in time” he wished he “could take back.” He continued reiterating his lawyer’s account, insisting that he only wanted to break up a dog fight. Ceaser said that he later attended classes with one of the dogs to learn techniques that will help him handle any future incident.

Suzette Samuel took to her Instagram Story to accuse the Black Ink Crew boss of domestic abuse, on Monday. Samuel shared a photo of her bruised arm alongside details of his alleged behavior.

“I tried not to do this to you but here we go,” she wrote. “You know I know EVERYTHING you’re an abuser!!! Member Christmas time when u found that dude in my dm?! This was the result. U played with the wrong one! You used the network to manipulate me and threatens to use the show to destroy my brand for months. I left you your birthday weekend stop playin!”

Ceaser’s relationship with Samuel was featured on Black Ink Crew during Season 9.
