Dean McDermott Announces 15-Year-Old Son Identifies As Trans!

Dean McDermott revealed why he loved his latest movie, My Fake Boyfriend, in a revealing shout-out to his kids during a weekend screening of the film.

“The thing I love about this movie is I got to share it with my 15-year-old who identifies as trans and my gay son,” Dean said, inviting applause from the audience. “I love that they get a safe space to come and watch this.”

The comment marked the first time that Dean or his wife, Tori Spelling, publicly mentioned that their son, Liam, identifies as transgender. 

Dean took to Instagram last week to share photos of his sons celebrating Pride with their proud dad. Dean referred to the duo as “my boys” while sharing that they started the day at a drag brunch and later spent time with Lisa Vanderpump, and her husband, Ken Todd.  

“We had a BLAST!” Dean wrote.

Dean responded to some negative feedback in the post’s comment section, writing—“The High Power I believe in . . . Loves everybody no matter their color, sexuality or religion. Also, there is NO sexualization of children happening by taking them to PRIDE. It’s a celebration of life. You love all humanity and respect them. That’s our job here on earth. To love each other and leave it a better place for the next generation. I have amazing children. Gay, Straight, and they’re going to change the world and make a difference. If you don’t like it, please DON’T follow. I don’t want or need to hear your negative bullsh*t.”

Tori has also publicly supported her sons, writing that she and stepson Jack “found each other on a new level with a whole new respect for each other” in a post honoring Jack’s 21st birthday. Jack came out as gay at the age of 17. 

“I was so proud of his confidence,” she wrote. “He was who he was and he was proud of it.”

She went on, writing—“We found each other on a new level with a whole new respect for each other. He’s 21 today. I’m so proud of the amazing human he is. He is so smart, kind, funny, unique, sweet, confident, and driven. His scream, smile, and laugh are contagious and his style is fierce. He makes no apologies for who he is. And who he uniquely is … Is Jack Montgomery McDermott. Someone who is an inspiration. Someone who has overcome many challenges thru out his young life and comes out on top no matter what. You are a fighter and a beautiful human.”
