Kim Kardashian Damaged Marilyn Monroe Dress Worn At 2022 Met Gala!
After Kim Kardashian wore Marilyn Monroe’s iconic dress to the Met Gala, longtime fans are now furious that the dress is destroyed!
Kim Kardashian wore a stunning dress during the 2022 Met Gala. The social media star said during an interview that she came up with the idea to wear Monroe’s dress during last year’s event. “I thought to myself, ‘what would I have done for the American theme if it had not been the Balenciaga look? What’s the most American thing you can think of?’ And that’s Marilyn Monroe.” Kim wore the stunning dress with a white coat as she walked the red carpet.
Despite looking beautiful on the red carpet, Kim admitted it was no easy feat to fit into the dress. The Kardashians star admitted that she had to lose 16 pounds in less than three weeks in order to fit into the dress. It still didn’t fit so Kim had to wear a replica during the rest of the Met Gala event. Now, Marylin’s die-hard fans are slamming Kim for ruining the dress she wore when she performed, “Happy Birthday, Mr. President.”
After the @marilynmonroecollection account posted before and after photos of the dress, fans were outraged at the state in which it was returned. The gown, which is in Ripley’s Hollywood location, now appears to have tears at the seams and some crystals hanging by a thread. Thousands of people slammed the SKIMS founder for not taking good care of the dress. The photos show the dress’ backside was significantly stretched to fit Kim’s rear.
One person said, “The dress has been tainted, one of the main reasons it was so valuable was due to Marilyn being the only person to wear the dress during an iconic moment in history. If anything, the value of the dress has gone down.” Another person added, “So disappointing especially when she had a replica made there was no reason for her to try and fit into a dress that was never meant for her body type.”
According to Ripley’s press statement on May 2, they did try and tell Kim Kardashian to care for the dress. “We always ensured that any time we felt the dress was in danger of ripping or we felt uncomfortable about anything, we always had the ability to say we are not going to continue with this.”
