RHOC’s Shannon Beador Drops Legal Case With Former Divorce Lawyer Over $1.4M Settlement!
Shannon Beador has finally dropped her battle with her former divorce lawyer, Ben Phillips, after years of fighting.
Shannon, 58, recently told the judge about a confidential agreement she made with her former lawyer, Ben Phillips. Per documents, the Real Housewives of Orange County star has agreed to drop all claims against him and the case will be closed. Beador filed a professional negligence lawsuit against Ben in October 2020 regarding her divorce from ex, David Beador.
Shannon and David were married for 17 years before they divorced in 2017. The former couple entered a long divorce battle with Ben as Shannon’s legal representative. The exes reached a settlement in June 2019 where David was ordered to pay a $1.4 million lump-sum payment along with $10k a month in support. It was a breakdown of $2,935 per month in child support and $7,065 in spousal support.
In the professional suit Shannon filed against her lawyer, she claimed he failed to include important costs and wrongfully advised her on the divorce settlement. According to the Bravo star, Ben failed to advise her to include their children’s college education in the settlement. She also claimed that her lawyer failed to make David sign a “filming release” for their children to appear on future episodes of RHOC.
Shannon Beador also faulted her lawyer for failing to assess David’s construction company since they were “uncommunicative” throughout their divorce case and failed to return their calls. The TV personality claimed it “resulted in significant damage and expense” to her “to enable her children to participate in the filming.” The suit read, “In the 11th hour, [Ben] convinced [Shannon] to take a low dollar divorce settlement, right before trial.”
The RHOC star even claimed Phillips hired an unnecessary forensic accountant and didn’t inform her. They were demanding she pay the entire bill of $85,000. Shannon walked away from the marriage with a 2015 Cadillac Escalade, a 2018 BMW 7 Series sedan, and several bank accounts. David was awarded a home in Corona, CA, his construction business, and several vehicles.
Shannon has said that since her divorce, her relationship with her ex, David, has been hard. She even claimed he hangs up on his daughters whenever he hears her voice. David is now married to Lesley Cook.
