‘RHONY’ Alum Alex McCord’s Big Achievement After Moving To Australia!

Alex McCord is sharing her achievements with fans on social media since she left the franchise.

The former Real Housewives of New York star has been living her best life since she moved from the Big Apple to Australia. She recently updated her fans on Instagram with what she has been doing lately. Alex, 48, announced that she had published her second peer-reviewed paper after earning her master’s degree in Psychology. She shared a photo of herself holding up her paper titled, “Digital Displacement of Youth Offending: Addressing the Issue.”

McCord captioned her post, ”Yahoooo! Thrilled to announce publication of my second peer-reviewed journal article (Journal of Forensic Practice). Not an academic one-hit wonder.” The former Bravo star relocated from New York to Australia in 2014. Since then, she and her husband, Simon Van Kempen, have been pursuing other interests in her life including education. While Alex got her master’s, Simon graduated with a law degree in 2020 from Southern Cross University.

Real Housewives fans congratulated the OG star in her comment section and some even read her paper. One fan wrote, “Congratulations Alex! From one health professional to another! I hope the excitement of publishing never wears off.” Another added, “A far cry from arguments with Ramona and Sonja congratulations!” Others kept asking Alex when she would return to Bravo. “I wish you and Simon would return to Bravo, even if just for a WWHL appearance. You were always the voice of reason.”

Alex was an original cast member of The Real Housewives of New York. She and her Australian husband, Simon,  were on the show from season 1 to season 4 which aired in 2011. While appearing on What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in 2017, Alex revealed that she no longer watches the show. Four years after their exit, Alex and Simon moved to the Byron Bay region of coastal New South Wales. Since her move from New York, she said what she misses most is how easy it was to shop but added that she doesn’t regret her new lifestyle.

“'[I miss] the ability to just walk outside your door and find stuff. Now we have to drive. But it’s basically like living in the Hamptons all year round.” Simon and Alex have been married for over two decades ad they celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in 2020. The couple share two children, Francois and Johan.
