Zach and Tori Roloff have confirmed that their infant son, Josiah, has achondroplasia. The Little People, Big World couple spoke to Us Weekly about their decision to publicly address their son’s diagnosis, stressing that his condition is “not his identity.”

“He’s Josiah. He has achondroplasia, but he’s not, like, Josiah the achondroplasia,” Zach told the outlet, about the couple’s third child.

Zach, 32, and his two older children, Jackson, 5, and Lilah, 2, all have achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism. Tori, 31, does not have the condition.

“Just like I’m Tori, I have brown hair,” Tori added. “I’m not a brunette — like, that’s not how I would classify myself.”

Fans of the TLC show know that Zach’s parents, Matt and Amy Roloff, also have achondroplasia. The divorced couple’s other three children, Zach’s twin, Jeremy, Molly, and Jacob, do not.

“It’s so normal to us,” Tori said. “We have so many resources and there’s a lot of parents out there who don’t have the same resources and … don’t have the same confidence in everything that Zach and I do.”

Zach and Tori shared that they are committed to using their platform to support the dwarf community.

“We will definitely be advocates for people with dwarfism cause of our kids,” Zach said.

“Forever,” Tori chimed in.

Zach and Tori, who tied the knot in 2015, announced in March 2021 that they had suffered a miscarriage.

“We were so excited when we found out we were expecting baby #3, and we couldn’t wait to share,” Tori wrote, in part, on Instagram. “We went in for our first ultrasound at 8 weeks and found out that we lost our sweet baby two weeks earlier.”

“I’ve honestly never felt loss like I did in that moment,” she continued. “I’ve never felt so sad, angry, and scared in a single moment. I had no symptoms of losing [our] sweet angel baby and nothing could have prepared me for hearing our sweet baby was gone.”

The show chronicled the couple’s loss last season and will feature Tori’s pregnancy with Josiah during the upcoming season.

The pair welcomed their baby boy in April and announced the happy news on Instagram.

Josiah Luke Roloff 🔵 was born April 30, 2022! He came about two weeks early but we were ready!” Zach wrote. “Super happy for our family and the kids adore him already. Very proud of Tori as well, she has done incredible! ❤️.”

“The best early birthday present a mama could ask for! We love you sweet boy!” Tori wrote, in her own post.

Zach and Tori and their children have been settling in as a family of five, three weeks out from Josiah’s arrival.

“Overall, he’s been the most straightforward, easy [baby],” Tori shared.

She added that the newest Roloff is tolerant of his big brother and sis “touching him and kissing him and … poking at him.”

Little People, Big World airs Tuesdays at 9 pm, ET, on TLC.
