‘RHOBH’ Alum Teddi Mellencamp Says Sutton Stracke Called Erika Jayne ‘White Trash!’

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills kicked off Season 12 by focusing on the women’s reactions to Dorit Kemsley’s October 2021 home invasion. Kyle Richards and Sutton Stracke were filmed discussing the scary incident and Sutton verbally stumbled while venting about a difficult day at work. The boutique owner made callous remarks, was called out by Kyle, and responded by noting that her problems were important to her, even though she “wasn’t held at gunpoint.” The conversation birthed a storyline that continues to be discussed as Season 12 unfolds.

Sutton later revealed, while apologizing for her comments, that childhood trauma was likely to blame for her insensitive remarks. The Georgia native explained that two events, a break-in during her childhood and her father’s suicide, tend to affect her reactions when it comes to scenarios involving guns.

“My house was broken into when I was 14 years old so there’s that. My father shot himself in the head so there’s that,” Sutton said.

Teddi Mellencamp spoke about her own experience with Sutton during an episode of her podcast, ‘Two Ts In A Pod,” earlier this month. She told co-host, Tamra Judge, that Sutton revealed that she used guns as a child while filming Season 10.

Teddi then alleged that Sutton insulted her and co-star, Erika Jayne, supposedly calling the pair “white trash.”

Tamra asked why Bravo chose not to air the controversial comment, and Teddi replied that producers “don’t show those types of things, especially your first season.”

“When I see Sutton say in the confessional ‘you know for me, I have a history with guns, I have a real issue with guns,’ then my mind goes back to the season that I was on with Sutton, where they never showed it, where Sutton called Erika and I white trash and she said she grew up hunting and using guns and blah, blah, blah and ‘just because I’m not from like the white trash places where you guys are, we could get license at 15 to drive a tractor,’” Teddi said.

The Bravo alum did admit that she believes Sutton is “good television.”

Erika Jayne

In September 2021, Teddi called Sutton “hypocritical” during an appearance on Us Weekly’s ‘Getting Real with the Housewives’ podcast. Teddi called foul after Sutton asked questions about Erika and her estranged ex, Tom Girardi, amid the disgraced lawyer’s ongoing legal issues. Sutton expressed concern over how her connection to Erika could affect her philanthropic reputation. Teddi didn’t buy it and pointed out that Erika had never been a hot topic in the past.

“Nobody knew who Sutton was before ‘Real Housewives,’ nobody even knew who I was either, but if you’re really concerned about your reputation, if you want to uphold, like, an amazing reputation and all of the charities you’re in and all the things, you don’t go on ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ … So that argument is a little flawed for me,” Teddi explained.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs Wednesdays at 8 pm, ET, on Bravo.
