MTV’s Jersey Shore is back with new faces and the original cast is not thrilled about it!

MTV announced the reboot of Jersey Shore in a press release. The network said, “It’s been 13 years since the iconic cast of Jersey Shore fist-pumped their way into our lives and stole our hearts. Now, the time-honored tradition continues with a new group of roommates moving into their own Shore house.” According to reports, the new reality show will feature a brand new cast.

MTV continued, “They may have traded their poofs for plumped pouts and UV rays for spray tans, but when things heat up in Jersey, the Shore is still the place to be to make memories all summer long.” However, the original Jersey Shore cast wasn’t too happy to hear the news. They released a joint statement on Twitter with the hashtag, #WeAreJerseyShore

The joint statement came from Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, DJ Pauly D, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Deena Cortese and Angelina Pivarnick. They began, “As a cast that took a chance with a network in need, we put our most vulnerable moments on television for the world to see.” The statement continued to describe how they gave 13 years of their lives to the show.

“We gave our all over the past 13 years, became a family and continue to open our lives to the world. So please understand that we are not in support of a version that will exploit our original show, our hard work and authenticity to gain viewers.” The statement from the former cast urged the fans to tune in to their new season of Jersey Shore Family Vacation.

The spin-off show began in 2018 and documented the former cast members’ lives, partners, and children. Fans of the OG show had mixed feelings about the news of a Jersey Shore reboot. One wrote on Twitter. “We live in a VERY different world today. There is no way anyone could recreate a new version of Jersey Shore and it be good. It will tank!!!.”

Somebody else added, “That network needs to realize that the impact the Original Jersey Shore cast had on us can not be replicated. This group became family to millions. Having a 2.0 version is not the right move.” Another person added it was very pathetic that they were even scouting a DJ for the new show.
