After slamming the late Kevin Samuels during a sermon, Pastor Jamal Bryant has offered a formal apology to his family.

According to reports, controversial YouTuber Kevin Samuels passed away at the age of 57 in his home. After Jamal’s comments about the late content creator during his Mother’s Day sermon, a lot of people came after him. They called the pastor out for attacking someone who is already dead. Jamal questioned Samuel’s last video before he passed which said unmarried women above “35” are leftovers.

Bryant  asked his congregation: “How can a man say you are of low value after 35?” He followed up by asking how Samuels could make such outlandish claims when “that man has to get a GoFundMe for his funeral.” Pastor Jamal is also known for being on The Real Housewives of Potomac as Gizelle Bryant’s ex-husband. Sources close to the late YouTuber’s family denied starting the GoFundMe for his funeral.

According to TMZ, the family said an imposter was behind the GoFundMe created to raise money for his funeral expenses and even though they were offered the cash, they won’t accept it. Bryant expressed his remorse for his cold comments recently. He wrote. “Benjamin Franklin once said, ‘the best way to mess up an apology is to add an excuse.’ I extend my deepest condolences and apologies to #kevinsamuels’ family and friends. Thank you to all who purposed to keep me accountable.”

The pastor made a public apology in church for his comments. “We grow from mistakes and birth maturity. Humility will always defeat arrogance. We grow as we go!” One fan wrote on Twitter about the pastor’s words in church: “Pastor Jamal Bryant is the reason I don’t really believe in these pastors today. If I come to church I expect the word, not you talking down on Kevin Samuels having a gofund me for his funeral. Mad tacky for speaking on the dead or anyone in that matter in the “house of the Lord.”

Another commenter said Jamal only made the comments to get more offerings from his female church members. One person reacted to Pastor Jamal’s apology on Twitter saying, “I’m glad. Pastor didn’t have to like Kevin but he didn’t need to slander him and his supporters.” During his apology, the pastor said about his apology, “The sound of your offense should be the same volume of your apology.”
