RHONJ: Dolores Catania Says She’s Done with Jennifer Aydin!
Bravo star, Dolores Catania, told Page Six exclusively that she is done with her friendship with Jennifer Aydin.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey star admitted she doesn’t want to be friends because of how Aydin’s treated her before the reunion. To Catania, 51, the way Jennifer spoke about her in interviews was very unwarranted. The two began feuding after Jennifer called Catania a “jerk” during a February interview with Access Hollywood’s ‘Housewives Nightcap.’
Aydin, at the time, said she was rethinking her friendship with Dolores. “She claims to defend me — and she does in real life, she really does defend me. And I love her. And I thought, ‘She loves me in real life, and sometimes is a jerk to me on the show,” she said. Dolores had told her that there was no need to cry about her husband’s 10-year-old affair being exposed on the show.
Dolores admitted that she hoped to work things out with her RHONJ castmate at the reunion. However, Aydin’s response to this didn’t sit well with her. “I did reach out to her off-camera and I did try to speak to her as a friend and she said, ‘I’ll see you at the reunion,’” she recalls. “That was a very pivotal moment for me to see that the person who I have stuck up for so much and feel that I’ve been there for spoke to me like, ‘I’ll see you at the reunion.’”
Catania also said she has always been there for Jen and defended her ever since she joined The Real Housewives of New Jersey. She told Page Six that she was disappointed in Jen for not stepping up prior to give context to her seemingly cold comment. “She should have stepped up and said, ‘Listen, I asked her to be tough with me and I asked her to actually stop me from crying.’ I’m like, ’Stop crying. Walk in this house with your head up and your shoulders back.’”
Dolores defended herself as a good friend. “That’s what I told her, ‘Because you have a good marriage. This is something you got through and be proud of it.’ But it wasn’t the way she wanted to take it this season.”
Catania also revealed during the interview that she does not regret where things are with her friendship with Jen. “I feel like it’s probably better for both me and Jen,” she said. “The way I left that reunion is the way it will stay. This is the way it is. This is fine. I don’t have to be everyone’s friend. I’m not used to being treated like this by women — sorry — or anyone because I don’t deserve it.”
