Kelly got into hot water on social media with fans when she freely traveled during the nationwide shutdown and balked at wearing masks. She was filmed at her bridal shower wearing a “Drunk Wives Matter” cap, fueling the belief that she was mocking the Black Lives Matter movement, amid nationwide racial unrest. Kelly was hit with backlash, and eventually issued a public apology for her lack of sensitivity.

“Over the weekend at my bridal shower, I got lots of gifts and briefly displayed them,” she said on an Instagram post in October. “One was a hat with a play on words since I’m about to be a wife, I’m on a Housewives TV show and might be drunk once in a while.”

Kelly assured her fans that she supports “Black lives and racial equality” and that she did not to intend to offend anyone. Kelly reiterated her regret during a later appearance on “Watch What Happens Live.”

“That Drunk Wives Matter hat was given to me, I was trying everything on from my shower. My girlfriend gave it to me, she’s had it for a couple of years,” Kelly said—while Andy Cohen cringed. “I believe in equality, I believe in Black Lives Matter, and if I offended anybody by thinking I was mocking… I don’t want to hurt… I believe in Black Lives Matter and equality.”

In a preview clip for the second part of the reunion, Kelly bellows that she’s Black, raising lots of fan eyebrows. Kelly has shared about her Mexican heritage in previous episodes. Viewers sounded off about the shocking teaser on social media.

“Hold up! Kelly is now Black? I thought she was Mexican? Or does she now identify as Afro/Mexican? I am so confused,” a fan commented on a Queens of Bravo Instagram post.

“Here goes the ‘I’m Black’ line. That’s always the go-to that is used for damage control. We should’ve [seen] that one coming,” a viewer added.

“Whew, self-sabotage at its finest,” a commenter quipped.

“To blatantly say, ‘I’m Black’ when you have no relation or connection to the race is beyond stupid and ignorant,” another fan wrote.

“What the hell Kelly?” one viewer asked.

Kelly also rocked the reunion boat when she accused Braunwyn Windham-Burke of faking her alcoholism for a storyline. The outspoken Bravo star also got into a heated exchange with Andy Cohen over her controversial social media response to the COVID-19 crisis. Kelly became frustrated while in Andy’s hot-seat, and alleged that fans had labeled the host “un-American” for his political views.

Part 2 of The Real Housewives of Orange County reunion airs on  Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
