Cynthia Bailey Defends COVID Super-Spreader Wedding: ‘No One Tested Positive!’
Cynthia Bailey has set the record straight about her lavish wedding held during the Covid-19 pandemic, after being hit by negative fan feedback. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star married Fox Sports correspondent, Mike Hill, in October, and spoke out about the controversy during a Sunday appearance on Watch What Happens Live.

“We did everything on our end to ensure everyone’s safety, from masks to shields [to] temperature checks,” Cynthia, 53, said on the Bravo chat show.
Cynthia shared that she even “had a COVID-19 specialist come and spray the place” where the couple exchanged vows.
Andy Cohen told the RHOA beauty that the safety of her wedding guests “was the number one question” viewers were asking after watching Sunday’s episode of RHOA. The episode followed the wedding prep leading up to the couple’s big day.
“The only time people were allowed to take their mask off was to eat or drink. It’s a wedding, so that happened,” Cynthia said, assuring fans that safety protocols were put in place. “And then a lot of people actually wanted to take pictures with their mask off. Because, you know, when you’re taking pictures, like, ‘Oh, can I take the mask off?’ So I wasn’t even thinking. ‘Of course.’ Oh, now all the pictures are gonna have the mask off.’”
Cynthia was asked if any guests got sick after attending the wedding, and she insisted that “no one tested positive [for COVID-19] as a result of being there.”
Cynthia and Mike met in April 2018 and made their relationship Instagram official in August. They became engaged in July 2019, during the opening of her Atlanta business, The Bailey Wine Cellar.
Cynthia admitted that the couple’s relationship was “tested” during the coronavirus quarantine shut-down.
“I’m a space person. He’s a space person,” she told Us Weekly last April. “We kind of know each other’s energy, and I can tell when he needs a minute. He can tell when I need a minute.”
She added that the confined time together ultimately brought them closer together.
Cynthia was married to Peter Thomas from July 2010-March 2017. Cynthia shares a daughter, Noelle, 21, with her ex-boyfriend, Leon Robinson. Mike has two daughters, Ashlee, 21, and Kayla, 19, from past marriages.
As reported last month—Cynthia Bailey is suing her ex-husband, Peter Thomas, for money she shelled out to support his Atlanta nightclub.
Peter told Cynthia that while he was making on-time payments to the landlord each month, the landlord wasn’t making enough payments on the mortgage to the bank. Peter then tried to get an arrangement with the bank and even showed proof of his timely payments, but the bank wasn’t having it. Both Bar One and The Bailey Agency buildings went into foreclosure, forcing Cynthia to move her agency to another location.
Peter planned to reopen Bar One in a different Atlanta location and Cynthia loaned him $170k to do so. But after years of a non-existent Bar One, court docs reveal that the RHOA star is seeking to recoup the money she’s owed. Her name is on the deed of the building and the building is now in foreclosure.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs on Sundays at 8 pm, ET, on Bravo.
