Fans were cheering during Sunday’s episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After, while watching Asuelu Pulaa stick up for his wife, Kalani Faagata, after a conflict over funding his Samoan family threatened to destroy their marriage. Viewers watched the couple battle over Asuelu’s family’s constant demands for cash, but a marriage counseling session proved to be a game changer.
Asuelu Pulaa invited his mother and sisters to Utah to hash out their differences on Sunday’s episode, and the young father demanded that they apologize to his wife.
“In Washington, my family say really bad things to Kalani, say we should divorce. But after talking to the therapist, I wanted them to apologize to her,” Asuelu said during Sunday’s episode. “I hope that will make things go better and they all get along and move on.”
Kalani Faagata’s parents came along for the showdown, and reminded Asuelu’s clan that the couple couldn’t hand over cash that they didn’t have. They stressed that Asuelu’s first responsibility was to support his wife and two boys, not his Samoan relatives.
Asuelu Pulaa finally put his foot down, and took a stand.
“Why you pressure me?” asked Asuelu. “It makes us fight and I don’t want that … If you don’t agree to what I say, I will cross Samoa in my bank account.”

Asuelu Pulaa’s mother finally received her son’s message loud and clear, apologized, and had an immediate change of heart. His sister wasn’t convinced, and maintained that the couple should split, so her brother’s part-time cash could be redirected to their mother. Asuelu’s sis doesn’t believe that Kalani is good enough for her bro — but fans applauded him for putting his wife and children first.
