The former 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After couple’s explosive fights were documented on the TLC reality series and their arguments would often turn physical.
On January 3, 2018, Luis Mendez accused his ex-wife of simple battery on January 3, 2018 — in a police report obtained by RadarOnline.com.
“Luis Emmanuel Mendez Rosa stated he was an immigrant here from the Dominican Republic and showed us his visa and proper paperwork,” the reporting officer wrote in the report. “He stated he was married to Molly Marie Hopkins and two days prior she got aggressive with him.”
To back up his abuse claims, Luis captured video of the incident to share with the police.
“You can see Molly cussing at him and wanting him out of the house,” the cop claimed. “You can see Molly come at him and the screen goes black and you can hear Luis say don’t hit me. It appears in the corner of the video you see a hand strike someone.”
The Dominican Republic implant claims he was scared to report the incident at the time due to his immigration status. Police found no visible injuries on Luis, and he was referred to the Cherokee Family Violence Center.
“The life I had with Molly was interesting. I suffered a lot with her.” Luis said in a statement to Radar Online.
The possible incident reported to the police was shown on a June 17, 2018 episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After. Luis barricaded himself in a bedroom, blasting his music and freezing out his testy wife. Molly is fed up, so she busts into the locked room, stomping after Luis from room to room until he threatens to call the police. Molly shoves him away from the phone, before leaving the house with Kensley. Watch the drama unfold in the video below.
Molly Hopkins filed for divorce on January 9, 2018 — six days after the purported incident occurred.
TLC chronicled the early days of their partnership on the hit reality show, after Luis traveled from the Dominican Republic to the United States to wed the Georgia boutique owner/reality star. The couple met while Molly was vacationing in the Dominican Republic.
The couple legally wed in July 2017 — and their divorce was official on May 4, 2018.
