Luann de Lesseps became a drunk as a result of her split from her cheating ex!

The Real Housewives of New York star, admits that she began drinking at least seven drinks a day, after her 7-month marriage to ex-husband Tom D’Agostino Jr. fell apart.

“I would start with a martini and maybe have two martinis, and then get into the wine at dinner,” Luan tells People in this week’s issue, on stands Friday. “Then I’d have a little bit of vodka soda going out.”

“I would have the hair of the dog drink the next day, and drink more, and it didn’t feel good. Alcohol just stopped working for me,” she says.

The 52-year-old explains why she returned to Palm Beach Beach for the holidays despite the emotional scars. The mom of two, wed NYC playboy Tom D’Agostino on New Year’s Eve 2017 in Palm Beach before divorcing him seven months later.

“I couldn’t put my finger on why I was feeling so anxious and why I was drinking more,” de Lesseps says of returning to the scene of her failed nuptials. “It makes sense now.”

The Real Housewives of New York star pled not guilty after her drunken arrest on Christmas Eve 2017. The charges include: felony resisting arrest by Palm Beach police officer Steven O’Leary with violence, the first degree misdemeanor charge of trespassing in an occupied room of the Colony Hotel in Palm Beach, and the second degree misdemeanor charge of disorderly intoxication. The felony charge could land her five years in prison.

She’s also resumed filming of RHONY: “I was so happy to come back to my work, to come back to my life,” she says.

Luann has given up drinking permanently, and sought treatment following her drunken Palm Beach arrest.

“Everybody around me says, ‘Luann, you’re not an alcoholic.’ I don’t know if I am or not,” she says. “All I know is that not drinking works for me right now. Will I drink again? I don’t know. I miss good red wine. Not to say that I’ll never have good red wine again.”

“Who knows where we’ll all be tomorrow,” she adds. “For today, that’s the choice that I’m making for myself.”
