Lifetime’s break-out docuseries Married at First Sight returns for its sixth season on January 2.
In season six of Married at First Sight, Boston area singles yearning for a life-long partnership agree to a provocative proposal: getting legally married to a stranger the moment they first meet. The couples will not meet until they walk down the aisle and see each other face-to-face, for the first time, at the altar.
Shawniece Jackson & Jephte Pierre
Shawniece Jackson
Shawniece is a 29-year-old entrepreneur and cosmetologist living in Providence, RI. She’s the oldest of ten brothers and sisters and loves having a big family. Although her parents never married, Shawniece was fortunate enough to witness what a healthy relationship looks like, through her mother’s marriage to her step-father. Shawniece wants to be with a man who can keep up with her fun, energetic personality and needs someone with a sense of humor, who can make her laugh and keep her grounded. Laziness is an absolute deal-breaker for Shawniece, who values hard work and determination. Shawniece’s dating life has proven unsuccessful due to men not being ready to settle down. She believes that with the experts’ help, she will without a doubt, find her one true love.
Jephte Pierre
Jephte is a 26-year-old second grade teacher, living in Boston, MA. As the oldest of fourteen children, he is a natural leader and took on the role of a father-figure to his younger siblings growing up. Although his parents are still together, he doesn’t exactly admire their marriage and looks to others for relationship inspiration and advice. Dating has been extremely difficult for Jephte, who is looking for an outgoing, mature and confident woman. He is not interested in anyone with baggage from a past relationship and finds laziness to be a big turn off. He’s ready for the ultimate commitment and is excited for the experts to find his soulmate.
Jaclyn Schwartzberg & Ryan Buckley
Jaclyn Schwartzberg
Jaclyn is a 29-year-old teacher turned sales representative living in the suburbs of Boston, MA. She grew up in a wonderful family, with two siblings and parents whose relationship she describes as “perfect.” After the devastating and sudden loss of her boyfriend and the man she believed to be her soulmate almost two years ago, she hopes to find another man who she can connect with on the same level. At this point, none of the men she’s dated since, have been able to compare. She strongly believes the experts will be able to find her someone who is funny, passionate, ready to commit and cannot wait to meet her future best friend and life partner.
Ryan Buckley
Ryan is a 29-year-old firefighter in the Boston, MA area. Growing up, Ryan was surrounded by a loving family with three sisters and parents who were, and are still very much in love. He claims his childhood was the quintessential American dream and has the utmost respect and admiration for his parent’s marriage. As a firefighter, Ryan loves serving his community and enjoys cooking for his buddies at the station. Although most of what he hoped for in life has been achieved, Ryan is missing that special someone to spend it with. He’s looking for a woman who is energetic, thoughtful and sincere. While he admits he can be picky at times, Ryan doesn’t want to settle for anything less than his perfect match and has high hopes that the experts will find her.
Molly Duff & Jonathan Francetic
Molly Duff
Twenty-five-year-old Molly is a commercial insurance adjuster, living in the suburbs of Boston, MA. She grew up surrounded by a loving family with her parent’s marriage as a great example of what love and devotion look like. Sadly, her father passed away six years ago and as a result, she is closer than ever to her mother and two sisters. Molly is looking for a man who is funny, hard-working, and loyal. She’s been in several long-term relationships over the past few years, however, she has yet to find “the one.” She took a break from dating and now that she knows exactly what she wants in a partner. She’s ready to trust the experts and start the next chapter of her life with the man of her dreams.
Jonathan Francetic
Jonathan is a 28-year-old army vet and financial associate living in the suburbs of Boston, MA. He grew up in Jacksonville, FL with his parents, who divorced when he was a teenager. Although his parents split up, his mother taught him to be independent and instilled the importance of compromise and unconditional love in a marriage. Jonathan would like to be matched with a woman who is energetic, driven and someone with a sense of humor who is always up for an adventure. Many of Jonathan’s close family and friends view him as a pragmatic soldier, however, he admits to having a romantic and sensitive side that he looks forward to sharing with his future partner. He feels there is no better time for him to participate in the experiment and has put full trust in the experts to successfully find the woman of his dreams.
The series captures each couple’s journey as they go from wedding, to honeymoon, to early nesting, to the daily struggles of working on their marriage. After several weeks together, each couple must make a decision: do they remain together or decide to divorce?
This season, Boston-based psychologist and Professor Dr. Jessica Griffin, joins sociologist Dr. Pepper Schwartz and marriage counselor, Pastor Calvin Roberson on the series’ panel of experts. Together they will create what they believe are three compatible couples based on scientific matchmaking and continue to counsel and mentor the couples throughout the season.
Married at First Sight season six premieres on January 2 at 9:00 p.m ET on Lifetime.
