#RHOA RECAP: Gregg Leakes Has a Health Scare and Porsha Williams and Her Sister Have Fight Over Money!
Sunday night’s episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta begins with Porsha, Lauren and her mom at the spa after Porsha’s blowout with Shamea. Porsha is getting a wrap to help enhance her beauty and they take her measurements. After they wrap the two sisters they are laughing, joking and having a good time.
Sheree is planning a 70’s themed party for her mother’s 70th birthday. She goes shopping with her kids for outfits. Sheree mentions she wants everything to be perfect so she has enlisted the help of a party planner to organize the event.
Meanwhile, Cynthia Bailey is getting her entire life on the dating scene. She goes on a date with a man named Will. He’s age appropriate at 41 compared to the 20-something tender-roni she dated in the last episode. They were introduced at her 50th birthday party by her assistant. Will is easy on the eyes and a smooth talker as they chitchat about their lives. She asks him if he has any pictures of his daughter and he tells her “I would if I had my phone, but I don’t bring my phone on dates with me.” Cynthia comments that she’s “very impressed” with her male suitor and declares the two have a connection.
NeNe and Gregg are luxuriating at Casa Leakes and the ATL heat is excruciating. As they lounge in the backyard, their son Brentt joins them as they reminisce about how much he’s grown up. He recently graduated high school and Brentt has plans to get into comedy or acting. Brentt tells them that he’s going shopping. NeNe jokes that she needs to keep Gregg around because if she got rid of him, she didn’t know who would cut the grass and clean the pool.
Over at the Kandi Factory — Kandi and her team are having a business meeting. Kandi announces that Carmon is leaving to start her own insurance business — and Kandi will invest in it. The business meeting soon diminishes into a gossip sesh about Kenya’s new husband and Porsha’s excuse for dissing Shamea’s wedding. The group questions if Kenya’s secret wedding is real and Kandi informs them that according to Kenya, she is indeed married but Ms. Twirl refuses to tell anyone her husband’s name. The chatter then turns to Porsha. Kandi says “I didn’t even talk to Porsha,” at Shamea’s bridal shower. Adding that Porsha told Shamea that she couldn’t attend her wedding in Africa because of the $10K first class ticket and her legs need to be elevated, per doctor’s orders. Don Juan practically falls off his chair in laughter and asks “Is the same disease that she had last time?” Carmon and Kandi laugh and explain that this time she had a different doctor’s note.
Meanwhile, Kenya scolds her dogs for peeing on her wedding dress. Then she insists that she and her better half talk all throughout the day and night, even though they live in separate states. Unfortunately, their communication seems to be limited to his voicemail.
Across town, Porsha and Lauren meet with business consultants to discuss opening a hair salon. Porsha’s planning for the future after Dish Network and reality TV gigs dry up. When Eric hears the idea, he explains that she needs to nail down a business plan and then look at real estate options. As they discuss timelines and permits, Porsha says “Well this is my company and I want to do this quickly.” After the men leave the meeting, the tension at the table becomes thick! Lauren is not happy, since she does all the work running Porsha’s businesses for peanuts — “I get paid what your little sister would get paid,” she tells Porsha. “Not what a normal person would get paid.” The sisters bicker back and forth. “I will make the most money out of it,” Porsha says, “because I’m putting my money on the line.” Lauren then said she was putting her life into it. “My entire life is about you,” Lauren tells her. Porsha suggests they split up and Lauren storms off.
Cynthia visits NeNe as the situation with Gregg’s health worsens. He was admitted to the hospital for chest pain. He did not have a heart attack but might require a minor surgery. Cynthia feels NeNe was in denial about the serious nature of Gregg’s health. The convo lightens when Cynthia fills NeNe in on her date with Will. She’s smitten and gushes over her new man. NeNe has already met him and approves since he gave her a hug upon their introduction.
Back at Sheree’s, it’s four hours before the 70’s bash. Her party planner is MIA and Sheree is freaking out. Then the party planner quits, via a text message. “Are you kidding me? Get this off of me,” Sheree snaps! She rips off her mic. She calls her back and gives her a peace of her mind.
However, despite the party planner leaving her in the lurch, she manages to pull off a successful party, with plenty of laughs and a soul train line.
The next day, Gregg calls NeNe with scary news, “They are getting ready to do a procedure on me. I’m really scared.” Apparently, the time of his procedure has been moved while NeNe is in route to the hospital. NeNe wants the doctor’s to hold off until she gets there. NeNe is clearly stressed by the time she pulls into the hospital, as the realization that she could potentially lose her husband hits her.
