#RHOA RECAP: NeNe and The Girls Question Kenya’s Quickie Wedding!
The milestone Season 10 premiere of The Real Housewives of Atlanta did not disappoint — the women wasted no time getting down and dirty!
The episode kicks off with Kandi’s redemption! Her new restaurant, Old Lady Gang, just opened and the lines wrap around the corner. According to Todd, they’re chicken is selling like theyrre selling marijuana. But Kandi is struggling to balance work and her personal life — being a entrepreneur and a mom to a toddler and a teenager. “To be honest, I feel like I’ve sucked lately, because all of our extra time has been at the restaurant,” Kandi confessed to the camera. Todd reassures her that she needs to strike while the iron is hot.
Ms. Linnethia Leakes (NeNe, if you’re nasty) is back in town from working in L.A. and pays Cynthia’s “Lake Bailey,” a visit to get caught up on the ATL tea. Naturally, the hottest tea around is Kenya’s quickie wedding.
Cynthia found out about the wedding through the internet and NeNe doesn’t believe Kenya’s nuptials are real.
At the same time, Kenya drops by and the girls congratulate her on her wedding. Cynthia wants to know why she wasn’t invited and Kenya explains that she “eloped” and therefore “didn’t invite anybody.” Although later published pictures of her wedding showed a full audience of people attended. NeNe and Cynthia both understand her decision but feel some type of way. Kenya then informs the ladies that no can one use her new hubby’s real name and they should refer to him as “baby.” She also announces that she’s moving to get away from ghosts [of the past?] haunting her new house.
The next day, Sheree visits NeNe’s Swagg boutique to kiki and gossip. The two discuss what else — Kenya’s marriage! Sheree throws shade and reminds viewers that Kenya has a reputation of renting boyfriends — so she doesn’t understand why Kenya is hiding her husband if he’s real.
Across town, Porsha’s hosting her new podcast show. A question from a caller, prompts Porsha to advise the listener to avoid working with friends. Apparently, the scars from Phaedra’s betrayal are still raw and she doesn’t trust friends anymore. Porsha said in a talking head confessional that she had pretty much “locked it down” when it came to getting new friends. Porsha then told her sister, Lauren, that Phaedra had reached out to her “about four or five times” to try to rekindle their friendship. She added that she wasn’t ready or interested.
Meanwhile, Kenya is driving and her dad calls. He found out on Facebook about his daughter’s new husband. He’s just as shocked as her friends are and wants answers. “I’m sorry you missed it because I really wanted you there,” Kenya explains as tears up. “Do I regret not having my dad walk me down the aisle? Yes,” she said to the camera. “Every little girl wants their dad to walk them down the aisle.” The former Miss USA claims her dad did not get an invite in fear of him ruining her big day.
We check in on Porsha and Sheree at one of Atlanta’s wig shops to complete their Cynthia Bailey look for her party. They talk about NeNe and Porsha’s beef. According to Porsha, she’s offended about what NeNe said on WWHL. She says that NeNe could have talked to her privately.
NeNe arrives and didn’t bother to honor her friend and dress as any version of Cynthia — Lmao!
Cynthia is turning 50 in style with a blowout “50 Shades of Cynthia” themed party. Guests are dressed up as their favorite version of Cynthia. As she preps for the extravaganza, Cynthia calls her ex-husband, Peter Thomas, to see if he was coming. They are officially divorced, but talk more than ever before. Peter won’t be able to attend and Cynthia is not happy about the news.
Kandi arrives and immediately approaches Kenya on what else — her wedding. “When I first heard about Kenya’s secret wedding, I really thought it was BS,” Kandi says in a talking head confessional. “I should really be able to get this information from you, and not the blogs.”
Porsha and NeNe get into a heated argument about what led to the demise of their friendship.“Our problems started two years ago when I tried to give you some damn advice that you didn’t want to receive,” Leakes told Williams. ” The door is locked. I have locked it.” Porsha claims NeNe tried to get her fired from the Bravo reality series and that’s the reason for their beef. “Why did you just lie to Sheree [Whitfield]? You just told her that you didn’t want me fired,” she said. “You fake as hell. You done sat on that show and said you want me fired.”
Cynthia directs all of the women to strut their stuff in their best runway show so she could pick the best “Cynthia.” Kandi won!
