RECAP: ’90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days’ Jesse’s Stepdad Gives Darcy A Harsh Dose Of Reality!
90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days continues, and as we meet another couple, others are already hitting roadblocks.
Darcey and Jesse
We begin the episode in the middle of Darcey and Jesse’s afterglow, as the TLC camera crew gets the lowdown on the couple’s first boink session. Darcey beams, assuring them that their souls have successfully merged—aka “intimate indeed.” Jesse labels the first night “a loving experience,” surely delighting the crew, camped out in by their bed. Darcey is thrilled that Jesse’s bod delivered, but is bothered by his emotional hold-out. The couple sets out to meet Jesse’s mother and stepfather, and Darcey doesn’t miss a beat, continuing her annoying string of engagement hints. Jesse is concerned that his stepfather might blather out of line, and Darcey is nervous — but still wears teetering stilettos for the occasion. The entrance to the home is “creative” and littered with craft projects. Jesse’s parents are an eccentric pair, and his mother readily admits that she believes that Americans are kinda the worst. Darcey claims that she was not really seeking a hot young hunk, despite her focus on Jesse’s Instagram pecs. Darcey shares that she hopes to have the “beautiful experience” of marrying their son, and birthing a boy in her mid 40’s. Jesse’s stepdad nails her for being old and nuts, but Darcey promises them that she will keep it tight and right. His stepfather twists the knife, when he concludes that Darcey is out of Jesse’s league. Jesse quips that no one’s perfect, except for him, which leaves Darcey stunned. Jesse is well aware that he may be settling for a senior, but his stepdad is concerned that she will “slow him down” — at least whenever they’re on bicycles. Darcey shares that it’s tough to be open-hearted, older, and hard-up for a ring. Darcey is offended, especially when Jesse can barely mumble back an “I love you.” Jesse explains away his stepfather’s words, which Darcey defines as a diss. Darcey begs for reassurance, which Jesse pegs as fear. Jesse nails Darcey as insecure. How could he tell?
Paul and Karine
We catch up with Paul and Karine, right where we left them, on the way to Karine’s family home. Paul meets her parents, but her father, a retired cop, is less than impressed. He wonders how he will get to know Karine’s love interest via weak hand gestures, and is clearly annoyed. Paul’s dazed grin brazenly requests permission to whisk their daughter away to a hotel room, and her father is obviously horrified. Paul promises that he will keep it clean, after her dad informs him that Brazilian hotels are only used for cheap hookups. Her father reluctantly caves, but Paul is walking in thin ice. The couple later hauls Paul’s mega load up to their room, and Paul surprises Karine with a load of cheap American trinkets and treats. Karine is thrilled, but raises an eyebrow at Paul’s mosquito netting obsession. She relents to the hotel net-tent, and just can’t wait to put out. The vibe is awkward, so Karine puts in a text request for a smooch. Paul delivers, but informs her that he wants to wait to do the deed. Karine is disappointed, obviously believes that Paul was lying to her father, and hopes that he isn’t losing interest. Paul loves Karine, but is harboring a secret about a past lover that might expose him as a loser. Paul has trust issues, so he wants Karine to get checked out, before he puts out.
Patrick and Myriam
A new couple is introduced this week, Patrick, a DJ from Kentucky, and Myriam, a woman from Paris, France. Patrick has an adoring daughter and has resolved to leave his player days behind him and find a keeper. Myriam is a committed Muslim, and Patrick admires her moral values. Patrick is preparing to jet to Paris to see if Myriam is the real thing. His friends believe the move to be a risky one, but are impressed by Myriam’s energy. We later see Patrick with his ex, Cameo, and his daughter, Italy, who is adorable. Patrick is a great father to Italy, and shares a healthy relationship with his ex. Cameo finds Patrick’s decision surprising, and is concerned that Myriam is acting uninterested in their daughter. We learn that Myriam has not yet spilled the news to her parents, and Cameo is immediately suspicious of her motives.
Cortney and Antonio
Cortney is preparing to travel to Spain to meet online sweetheart, Antonio, even though she has never even heard his voice. Cortney packs an on-point emoji dress, as her parents watch through twin cringes. Antonio is a sweet talker, and Cortney’s cloudy intuition is telling her he’s the real deal. Her mother states that Cortney is “smart,” but Cortney’s plan to couch crash with a shady stranger kills that theory. Cortney is worried about Antonio’s porny pics, and wonders if such an enigma can pull off being a faithful husband and father. Her parents drop her at the airport, undoubtedly trusting the TLC crew to keep their daughter safe.
Yet another couple enters the messy mix next week — don’t miss it!
