Mohamed Hadid Enters Plea In Criminal Bel Air Mansion Disaster!

Yolanda Foster’s ex, Mohamed Hadid, has pleaded “no contest,” in his criminal Bel Air spec house case.

The case centers around accusations that Hadid failed to stop construction and demolish illegal features of a brand new Bel-Air mansion. He’s been charged with illegally using land, building without a permit and failure to obey orders from the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety.

Opponents of the 30,000-square-foot mansion, want the bulk of the home torn down. They argue that that if the home remains standing it would send the wrong message to wealthy developers who are willing to break the city’s rules.

“You cannot cross it or the structure has to come down,” Mike Eveloff, board member of Fix the City told the Los Angeles Times. “You can’t reward that behavior.”

In early May, Mohamed submitted revised plans for the property, however, city records indicate that clearance from the city’s building department were not cleared and the plans still do not meet the city’s guidelines on hillside construction, grading and building height.

City records also indicate that many of the unapproved sections are underneath other parts of the home, including an “entire story…created below basement level,” meaning it would be difficult to remove them.

Hadid’s attempts to legalize the home will be even harder since Los Angeles imposed new, stricter rules on building in Bel Air since he started construction. Under those rules, houses larger than 17,500 square feet must go through a tougher review that includes environmental studies and a public hearing.

Bella and Gigi’s dad is not facing jail time over the criminal charges — instead, he’ll get community service and fines, in addition to a $250,000 contribution. Sentencing is expected in June 2017.
