Copycats! #RHONJ Melissa & Joe Gorga Launch Italian Eatery After Kathy Wakile Announced Her Restaurant Opening!

Becca is a Senior Editor for All About The Tea. She's a coastal girl who loves the outdoors, and writing about the sneaky and silly side of reality TV. Her bio is short, but her snark is endless. She loves writing for the sharpest posters in the world.

It’s a pizza pie smackdown — Real Housewives of New Jersey style.

East Hanover, NJ eatery Gorga’s Homemade Pasta & Pizza, officially opened to the public Friday — the Italian themed establishment operated by Joe Gorga, with wife Melissa Gorga, and sister, Teresa Giudice by his side. The culinary project honors Joe and Teresa’s mother, Antonia, who passed away in March. Joe and Teresa spoke to People about their family inspiration, Thursday night, at the private opening party.

“My mother loved to cook; it was like her drug,” Joe said. “I always told her I was gonna open up a restaurant for her. Then I got busy. While I signed a contract on this place we lost her. So this is for her.”

“We wanted to share her recipes with the world,” Teresa added. “I always would say, ‘Mom, everyone has to try your food!’ because that’s how I learned to cook.”

The menu is chockfull of “Fabulicious” cookbook recipes, along with an array of family named specialties such as Audriana’s Rock Shrimp Arrabiata, Milania’s Pesce del Giorno and Antonia’s Chicken Francese.

Interestingly, the opening collides with former Housewife, Kathy Wakile’s announced plan to open her own place, Pizza Love — the Bergen County restaurant set to launch in June. Former Bravoleb, Jacqueline Laurita, recently sang the praises of Kathy’s appetizing pizza recipe on Instagram.

Kathy just dropped off a sample of 1 of their "Grandma Pies" coming soon to @pizzalove_201 ! This is called "The Hot Grandma" ! 🤗#testtasting @pizzalove_201 ! I am being completely honest when I tell you how delicious this is!! One may expect me to say something like that, but my husband… he's tougher and more of a critic. His honest response…. "It's VERY, VERY good! It is actually EXCELLENT!! A very traditional Italian pie! An Italian family is going to flip out …like this is really good f*#%* pizza!! It honestly could be the best pizza I ever had. Reminds me of how my Grandmother used to make it! " Chris NEVER says things like that, so WOW! You KNOW it's good pizza! Congratulations @kathywakile and @richardwakile !! We wish you tons of success with @pizzalove_201 ! 😍🤗😋🍕

Kathy is not returning to the criminally tarnished reality franchise, but offered a kind message of support to her family. She captioned the Instagram post “Sending Lots Of Love & Congratulations to my cousins Teresa, Joe & Melissa on their new venture! #wealllovepizza.”

The Gorga gang did not offer the same sentiment, in return.

Fans have watched Melissa Gorga pursue a plethora of careers—including singing, writing, and most recently, a fashionista/boutique owner—ventures all boosted by Bravo. Melissa soon learned that sticking by a post-prison Teresa is where it’s at—and now the sisters-in-law can officially turn on the love in a business setting.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey is currently filming.
