#LittleWomenLA Star Christy Gibel Suffers Stroke During Neck Surgery

Little Women LA star, Christy McGinity Gibel, has been treated for an ongoing, life-threatening medical situation.

After undergoing surgery to repair two damaged neck discs in late November, Christy suffered a mini-stroke that left her seriously impaired.

“I am not the same, and may never be.” The reality star tells Radar. “Every day is an uphill battle to do things in my life that I took for granted, like speaking.”

The married 39-year-old mom has been trying to recuperate while still caring for her family. She feels the pressure to provide and manage her own family, along with her parents. On top of that, her father has cancer.

“How can I take care of my family? I am still the mama bear of the house, and expected to run it, sick or not.”

Christy thought the pain she’d been feeling post-op was a natural part of her recovery. But the stroke turned out to be a serious setback. Now three months later, she’s seeing several therapists to help her regain “basic life skills.” Her recovery is expected to take a “very long time.” 

“Am I ever going to be ‘Christy’ again? The constant set backs really played with my mind. They still do.”

Though Christy fought with costars, Terra Jole, Briana Renee, and Tonya Banks, she was upset that they never reached out to her during her recovery.

“I work with these girls. Fighting or not, I am concerned with their well-being. It’s called being human!”

Now, she’s focusing on her “real friends” who’ve been there for the “dark days” after her stroke and the long healing process she’s endured.
