On the most recent episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kandi Burruss’ former employee, Johnnie Winston, sought out Phaedra Parks for her legal expertise.

He wanted to sue Kandi for unpaid overtime. Phaedra believed the suit had merit and gave him the name of some attorneys, but didn’t handle the case herself.

So, here’s the official dirt on Johnnie Winston’s lawsuit against Kandi and her company, Kandi Koated Entertainment.

On October 27, Johnnie Winston III filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Johnnie worked as Kandi’s assistant from August 3, 2013 until he was fired on February 29, 2016. He gave no reason for the termination.

Johnnie claimed he regularly worked seven days a week, and in excess of 40 hours a week. As time passed, his daily work schedule increased anywhere from 10-20 hours a day, seven days a week. Now, he wants the overtime money he alleged Kandi failed to pay.

Johnnie stated that his work included planning events, preparing meals for special events, running errands, and attending mandatory meetings. In the lawsuit, Johnnie said he was a manager of her studio, the Kandi Factory, but became an event planner in early 2014. He even got a job title change: production coordinator.

Johnnie helped organize Kandi’s wedding to Todd, coordinated events for her Bedroom Kandi brand, and helped run her Business Woman’s Masterclass and the taping Kandi Koated Nights.

Three times Johnnie asked for his overtime pay, and he was denied each time.

The lawsuit doesn’t state Johnnie’s wage nor does it include the amount he feels he’s owed.

So, do you think Kandi will settle out of court or will she fight this all the way?
