‘RHOBH’ Eden Sassoon Ties Her Late Sister’s Addiction to Drugs with Kim Richards!
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills introduced Eden Sassoon last week, providing a perfect appetizer for the return of Kim Richards to the Bravo landscape.
Eden opened up about her sister to Lisa Rinna and Erika Girardi — and revealed that her battle with drug addiction began during her time partying in the 80’s, with Kim Richards and Robert Downey Jr. Catya Sassoon, daughter of beauty legend, Vidal Sassoon, died of an overdose in 2002. She was only 34 years old.
“For a long time I was numb, very numb to it,” Eden, 43, said. “And completely shut off.”
Catya appeared in Tuff Turf, a 1984 film co-starring James Spader, Robert Downey, Jr. and Kim Richards. Eden described the the behind-the-scenes picture, during Tuesday’s episode.
“This was way way back in the day, when my dad bought Frank Stallone’s house in Bel-Air,” Eden explained. “Kim would come over with Robert Downey — and Robert would play the piano like crazy. I was like ‘Who are all these, like, insane [people]’ ”
“Sure enough they all sort of had their stuff,” Eden said. “I think on this set was the beginning of everybody’s drug and alcohol abuse, if you really look at it. It was kind of pre-f–ed up days.”
Kim has certainly had her share of “f**ked up” days, and Bravo viewers have witnessed snippets of her drug/alcohol laced behavior. The former child actress entered rehab in 2011 — and then again in April 2015, after she was arrested for public intoxication. Kim abandoned the Malibu facility to attend her daughter’s wedding, then checked herself back in two weeks later, after allegedly crashing during the event. Bravo has chronicled Kim’s battle with addiction, over several seasons of Housewives. Kim told PEOPLE in December that life is good today.
“I’m just so grateful to be where I am today,” Kim commented. “To be this happy and have life this good and have the relationships that I have — I feel so blessed. I feel powerful. I feel so grateful. Honestly. Life is so amazing today. I wake up happy, I go to sleep happy.”
Eden is a divorced mother of two, and owns both the salon EDEN by Eden Sassoon and two luxury Pilates studios in L.A.
Eden and Kim will reunite next week, at Kyle Richards’ game night event. The party will undoubtedly be a nod to one of Kim’s most disturbing junkie episodes ever captured by Bravo cameras.
How do you believe Kim will respond to confronting a blast from her past — along with a somber reminder of a vibrant life cut short by addiction? The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs Tuesday, at 9 pm ET, on Bravo.
