The jig is up — the latest hyped Real Housewives of New Jersey business scheme is officially a one-season wonder.
We can exclusively report that Melissa Gorga and her business partner, Jackie Beard Robinson, are closing ENVY boutique in Montclair, NJ. A local source reports that the the business venture defining Melissa Gorga’s Bravo storyline, has gone belly up.
“Envy was hemorrhaging money, and is a complete bust,” reports the insider. “There is a handwritten sign on the front door that says ‘restocking for next year,’ and the doors are locked. It’s obvious that Envy is shutting down. The shelves are completely cleaned out, and all stock has been removed.”
In spite of Bravo’s best efforts, many fans remained skeptical of Melissa’s enthusiastically pushed “modern woman” storyline. Bravo featured Melissa’s melodramatic struggle to balance career and family, weaving the development of her retail dream throughout the season. According to our snitch, Melissa’s crash and burn gets even worse, because Kim DePaola has been recruited to help take the edge off a financial catastrophe.
“Kim DePaola was brought in, to help liquidate ENVY’s stock. Kim agreed to buy the inventory for 5 cents on the dollar, and store the inventory in her basement,” the source reveals.
Another source tells AllAboutTheTea.com that,
“Melissa was using the ENVY credit card to charge clothing from other boutiques to wear on the Real Housewives of New Jersey,” the insider continued. “Jackie cleaned out the store and took the merchandise to Kim D., hoping to recoup part of the money she lost.”
A flyer for an upcoming liquidation sale tells the story — the ENVY clearance bonanza scheduled for this Thursday, January 5th. The ENVY sale event is hosted by Melissa’s rival, Kim D., along with Melissa’s business partner, Jackie Beard Robinson. The liquidation sale will be held at DePaola’s salon, Posche By Kim D. Melissa Gorga’s name is not in the mix.
So what’s next for Melissa Gorga? She has tried being a singer, a sexy homemaker, an author, a conflicted career gal, a fashion expert, and a small business owner. Could operating as a Teresa Giudice cheerleader turn into a full time job?
