‘Love & Hip Hop New York’ Yandy Smith Reveals She’s Not Legally Married To Mendeecees ‘It’s Just A Piece Of Paper But I am Committed’

Yandy Smith-Harris has been keeping a big secret from Love & Hip Hop New York viewers!

Last year, Yandy and Mendeecees exchanged vows in a lavish wedding ceremony that was broadcasted live on VH1. The ceremony was an emotional one, considering Mendeecees was facing an 8-year prison sentence. Since Mendeecees began his prison stint, Yandy has been a faithful wife, holding her husband down during his incarceration. However, in an exclusive preview of Monday’s new episode, Yandy makes a shocking confession — she is not legally married to Mendeecees.

“I have a union with Mendeecees, but I did not go into a partnership with Mendeecees and the government,” Yandy explains to her stunned girlfriends.

Despite not being legally married, Yandy maintains that she and Mendeecees are very much in love. Supposedly, the reason they didn’t legalize their nuptials was a matter of protecting assets from the government. A legal union would make Yandy vulnerable to the feds (Mendeecees restitution obligations) and greedy baby mama’s seeking child support, while Mendeecees served his prison sentence.

Reportedly, when the show’s creator, Mona Scott-Young, was made aware of the fake marriage, she was angry about the matter. Apparently, neither Yandy or Mendeecees communicated their plans prior to VH1 footing the bill for their Memorial Day Weekend wedding special.

After the fake marriage news broke, Yandy recently addressed the scandal in an interview with Streetz945ATL. Press play below.
