‘RHOA’ Cynthia Bailey Cries As She Tells Estranged Husband Peter Thomas ‘I Just Can’t Be Married to You’
An emotional Cynthia Bailey is forced to deal with the impact her marriage, as she comes face-to-face with husband, Peter Thomas on an all-new Real Housewives of Atlanta.
On Sunday’s episode, the 48-year-old supermodel and her estranged husband meet for an emotional meeting. Thomas tells Bailey that a recent medical scare made him realize that he could no longer use her as his emergency contact. The revelation brings Cynthia to tears.
“Just because we’re going through a divorce [doesn’t] mean I don’t care what happens to you,” she tells her ex, 56. “You’ve been my friend for eight years. You’ve been that person that I call.”
Bailey reminds Thomas of her desire to end their marriage without any drama.
“People say when you get divorced you can’t be friends and it’s going to be all this nasty stuff, like we’re gonna hate each other. And I don’t hate you. I don’t want to hate you,” she says. “I still want to be friends with you.”
Bailey even mentions her 17-year-old daughter Noelle Robinson, telling Thomas, “[I] still want you to have a relationship with Noelle — she’s know you since you were 8 years old. You’ve been like a second dad to her.”
“I love you, I respect you. I just can’t be married to you — that’s it,” she confesses.
Cynthia mentions a conversation the two had in their early days of dating. “When I first met you, we had that conversation about if we’re ever not happy, are you the kind of person to just settle to just be in something?” she said. “And you told me no.”
It’s a conversation that appears to give Thomas the motivation to move forward. “I do want to see you happy,” he tells her — before calling her lawyer, Daniel Meachum, and agreeing to sign off off on whatever he sends.
The divorce is definitely in the works and this is not just a storyline for Peter and Cynthia. Peter now lives full-time in Charlotte, North Carolina while Cynthia sold the couple’s former home and purchased a lakefront property in Georgia.
