Luann de Lesseps’ Fiance Tom Finally Admits He ‘Made a Mistake’ In Cheating Scandal #RHONY
Thomas D’Agostino has broken his silence—and is speaking out about the incident that crashed his fiancee, Luann de Lesseps, into despair. The eighth season of The Real Housewives of New York ended in controversy, after Tom was busted—photographed kissing another woman. Tom and Luann appeared on The Insider on Wednesday— the same day as the premiere of three part post-season reunion. Tom set the record straight, and admitted to cheating on his fiancee.
“Yeah, I made a mistake, and I feel awful about it,” Thomas D’Agostino admitted during the interview, adding, “If I could take it back, I would. I love Luann tremendously.”
Luann shared that she felt heartbroken after she learned that Tom had been caught with another woman. Luann was initially grateful that co-star Bethenny Frankel disclosed the evidence, but grew to believe that her former friend’s motives should be questioned. She admitted on the show that she did have to think long and hard, about her future with Tom.
“It was awful. It was awful to find out that way. It felt like my earth was completely blown apart because I love Tom,” Luann said, adding, “And I feel like people in life, they make mistakes. It was a kiss in a public place. I mean, if he was trying to hide, would he be sitting in public, correct?”
Tom has appeared on the Bravo show, but maintains that he is a private person, and not comfortable in the reality spotlight.
“This is my first interview talking about these things on national TV. I’m a pretty private person,” Thomas said. Luann added, “He didn’t really want to be on the show. He didn’t want to be on the show, but we got engaged, so here we are.”
Tom also addressed Sonja Morgan’s assertion that they had been lovers for ten years, in a “friends with benefits” scenario.
“Absolutely not,” Tom responded, when asked about Sonja’s claim. “That’s not the truth.”
“Tom and her were friends, they didn’t really have a relationship,” the Countess added. “I love Sonja, but she is not correct. It’s not true, but even if it were true, I don’t care.”
Luann dished a few details about their upcoming wedding, scheduled for New Year’s Eve—in Palm Beach, Florida. Dorinda Medley will be in the wedding party, and the event will not be televised.
